Description:
Zinc Finger Protein 100 (ZNF100) is part of the krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. ZNF100 contains 12 C2H2-type zinc fingers and 1 KRAB domain. ZNF100 is a DNA-binding protein domain consisting of zinc fingers. Zinc finger protein 100 occurs in nature as the part of transcription factors conferring DNA sequence specificity as the DNA-binding domain. Zinc finger proteins have also found use in protein engineering due to their modularity and have prospects as components of tools for use in therapeutic gene modulation and zinc finger nucleases.

Description:
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have a wide variety of functions, most of which encompass some form of transcriptional activation or repression. ZNF346 (Zinc finger protein 346), also known as JAZ (Just another zinc finger protein), is a 294 amino acid protein that contains four matrin-type zinc fingers. The matrin-type zinc finger, which is very similar in structure to the classical DNA-binding C2H2 zinc finger, was first identified in the protein matrin-3. The matrin-type zinc finger has also been identified in several spliceosome RNA-binding proteins. Two isoforms exists due to alternate splicing events.

Description:
ZNF300 contains C2H2 (or Kruppel)-type zinc finger motifs that tetrahedrally coordinate zinc ions and form a protein structure that can bind DNA and regulate transcription (Gou et al.,2004 [PubMed 14746915]). ZNF300 belongs to the krueppel C2H2 type zinc finger protein family. It contains twelve C2H2 type zinc fingers and one KRAB domain. ZNF300 has a transcriptional repressor activity. Expressed mostly in heart, skeletal muscle and brain. Isoforms 1 and 2 are highly expressed in testis. There are three named isoforms.

Description:
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have a wide variety of functions, most of which encompass some form of transcriptional activation or repression. The majority of zinc-finger proteins contain a Krüppel-type DNA binding domain and a KRAB domain, which is thought to interact with KAP1, thereby recruiting histone modifying proteins. Zinc finger protein 568 (ZNF568) is a 644 amino acid member of the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. Localized to the nucleus, ZNF568 contains fifteen C2H2-type zinc fingers and one KRAB domain through which it is thought to be involved in DNA-binding and transcriptional regulation. Two isoforms of ZNF568 exist as a result of alternative splicing events.

Description:
Zinc-finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have a wide variety of functions, most of which encompass some form of transcriptional activation or repression. ZNF281, also known as GC-box-binding zinc finger protein 1, ZBP-99 or ZNP-99 (zinc finger DNA-binding protein 99), is a zinc finger protein that belongs to the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc finger protein family. It is expressed ubiquitously at low levels with predominant expression in kidney, liver, lymphocytes and placenta. ZNF281 localizes to the nucleus and contains four C2H2-type zinc fingers. ZNF281 plays a role in repressing the transcription of a variety of genes including Gastrin and ODC (ornithine decarboxylase). In particular, ZNF281 functions by binding to the G-rich box in the enhancer region of the gene. Upon DNA damage, ZNF281 may become phosphorylated by Atm or ATR.

Description:
Zinc finger proteins have been shown to interact with nucleic acids and to have diverse functions. The zinc finger domain is a conserved amino acid sequence motif containing 2 specifically positioned cysteines and 2 histidines that are involved in coordinating zinc. Kruppel-related proteins form 1 family of zinc finger proteins. See MIM 604749 for additional information on zinc finger proteins.
