CXCL16 is a member of the CXC chemokine family and signals through the CXCR6 receptor. CXCL16 may play a role in attracting lymphocyte subsets during inflammation and may facilitate certain immune responses. The chemokine domain of CXCL16 contains six cysteine residues including the four highly conserved cysteine residues characteristic of CXC chemokines. The CXCL16 gene codes for a 273 amino acid polypeptide, which includes a 29 amino acid cytoplasmic domain and transmembrane sequence containing approximately 20 amino acids. The extracellular portion of CXCL16 contains a chemokines domain and an extended C-terminal mucin-like stalk sequence. The extracellular domain contains 89 amino acid residues (86 a.a. residues for the murine homolog). Recombinant human CXCL16 is a 10.1 kDa protein containing 89 amino acid residues.

4-1BB Receptor, a member of the TNF superfamily of receptors, is mainly expressed on the surface of a variety of T cells, but also found in B cells, monocytes, and various transformed cell lines. 4-1BB Receptor binds to 4-1BBL to provide a co-stimulatory signal for T lymphocytes. Signaling by 4-1BB Receptor has been implicated in the antigen-presentation process and generation of cytotoxic T cells. The human 4-1BB Receptor gene codes for a 255 amino acid type I transmembrane protein containing a 17 amino acid N-terminal signal sequence, a 169 amino acid extracellular domain, a 27 amino acid transmembrane domain and a 42 amino acid cytoplasmic domain. Recombinant human soluble 4-1BB Receptor is a 167 amino acid polypeptide (17.7 kDa), which contains the cysteine rich TNFR-like extracellular domain of 4-1BB Receptor.

Human Chemokine (C-C Motif) Ligand 23 (CCL23) is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family. CCL23 is also known as myeloid progenitor inhibitory factor MPIF-1, CK8 and SCYA23. CCL23 cDNA encodes a 120 amino acid residue precursor protein with a putative 21 amino acid residue signal peptide that is cleaved to generate a 99 amino acid residue mature CCL23 (amino acids 22 -120). Additional N-terminal Processing of the 99 amino acid residue variant can generate a 75 amino acid residue peptide (amino acid 46-120) that is significantly more active than the 99 amino acid residue variant. CCL23 binds to CCR1 with high affinity and has chemotactic activity for monocytes, dendritic cells, and osteoclast precursors. CCL23 enhances angiogenesis of endothelial cells, but reduces the proliferation of progenitor cells giving rise to granulocyte and monocyte lineages.
