Docetaxel is taxane-type antineoplastic agent structurally similar to taxol.

It reversibly binds to polymerised tubulin inhibiting depolymerisation. It induces apoptosis in a large number of tumor cells and is a clinically important anticancer agent. Stabilises microtubules.
