Mitomycin C is the most widely used antibiotics because it is the least toxic and with the most potent antitumor activity.

Inhibitor of DNA synthesis, nuclear division, and cancer cells

Synonyms: Ametycin, 7-Amino-9-a-methoxymitosane, Mit-C, Mitocin-C, Mitomycinum, Mutamycin, Azirizino[2', 3': 3,4] pyrrolo [1,2-a] indole 4,7-dione-6-amino-1,1a, 2, 8, 8a, 8b-hexahydro- 8- (hydroxymethyl) 8a-methoxy-5-methyl carbamate.

Antibacterial to gram positive, gram negative, acid-fast bacilli. Mitomycin C decomposes DNA in cancer cells by forming a complex with DNA and inhibits division of cancer cells by interfering with the biosynthesis of DNA.
