β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotid, oxidised form (NAD, oxidised form) ≥98%
β-Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotid, oxidised form (NAD, oxidized form)
β-NAD is one of the biologically active forms of nicotinic acid. It occurs in living cells primarily in the oxidized state. Serves as a coenzyme of the dehydrogenases, especially in the dehydrogenation of primary and secondary alcohols. NAD usually acts as a hydrogen acceptor, forming NADH which then serves as a hydrogen donor in the respiratory chain. (Merck Index, 12th Ed., No.6429)
- White powder, soluble in water (200 mg/ml)
- pH: 2 - 4 (1% aqueous solution)
β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is a major electron acceptor molecule in biological oxidations. It acts as a coenzyme for hydride-transfer enzymes and a substrate for NAD(+)-consuming enzymes, which include ADP-ribose transferases, poly(ADP-ribose) polymerases, cADP-ribose synthases and sirtuins. Recently reported to be a P2Y11 agonist.
Solutions should be aliquoted and stored at –20 °C for up to one week.
