Glycylglycine (Gly-Gly), MP Biomedicals
Proteins and Peptides
Glycylglycine is a dipeptide and is the simplest of all dipeptides.
- GHS symbol and signal word: GHS07 and warning
- Melting point: 262 to 264 °C (lit.)
- Identity test: Passes
- Conforms to FTIR standard
Glycylglycine is used as a starting template for the preparation of more complex peptides. It is a substrate for the enzyme glycylglycine dipeptidase. It is also utilized as a buffer in biochemistry. Glycylglycine has been utilised in the purification and characterization of a fructose-6-phosphate aldolase from E. coli, and in the characterization of a PMA hydrolase from a strain of Comamonas acidovorans. The use of Glycylglycine in a [35S]GTPγ S binding assay for measuring functional coupling of G proteins with receptors has been reported.
Typical Working Concentration: 10 to 20 mM
Soluble in water (10% w/v-clear, colorless solution).
ΔpKa/°C: -0.025 (Lit.)
