Oligomycin
Oligomycin is a natural antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces diastatochromogenes, which is a mixture of oligomycins A, B, and C.

  • Presentation: White Powder
  • Soluble in ether, benzene, absolute ethanol, glacial acetic acid and acetone.

Oligomycin is used as antibiotic which inhibits respiration in mitochondria. It inhibits ATP synthase by blocking its proton channel (F0 subunit), which is necessary for oxidative phosphorylation of ADP to ATP (energy production).

It inhibits mitochondrial ATPase and phosphoryl group transfer.

Formulation: A mixture of oligomycin A, B and C in an approximate ratio of 60:30:10 Oligomycin A: C45H74O11 Oligomycin B: C45H72O12 Oligomycin C: C45H74O10
