Mini-PROTEAN® TGX Stain-Free™ Precast Gels for PAGE are based on the long shelf life TGX (Tris-glycine eXtended) formulation and allow rapid fluorescent detection of proteins, after both electrophoresis and blotting, with stain-free enabled imaging systems (Bio-Rad’s Gel Doc™ EZ, Gel Doc™ XR+, ChemiDoc™ Touch, ChemiDoc™ MP, and ChemiDoc™ XRS+ Imaging Systems).
- Run times as short as 15 minutes
- Verify transfer to membranes with a stain-free enabled imager
- Use standard sample and running buffers for Laemmli-like separations
- Gel images and complete analysis in less than 5 minutes after electrophoresis
- Comparable sensitivity to Coomassie stain
- Better reproducibility and quantitation compared to staining procedures
- One gel for western blotting, imaging, and mass spectrometry
- Opening lever is 100% aluminum and recyclable
TGX Stain-Free™ Gels retain Laemmli-like separation characteristics using standard sample and Tris/glycine/SDS running buffers. Proteins can be separated in as little as 15 minutes and then visualized in 2.5 minutes. Within gels or on PVDF membranes, trihalo compounds react with tryptophan residues in a UV-induced reaction to produce fluorescence, which can be easily detected by stain-free enabled imagers.
