Description:
A scaffold protein that connects plasma membrane proteins and regulatory components, regulating their surface expression in epithelial cells apical domains. May be involved in the coordination of a diverse range of regulatory processes for ion transport and second messenger cascades. In complex with SLC9A3R1, may cluster proteins that are functionally dependent in a mutual fashion and modulate the trafficking and the activity of the associated membrane proteins. May play a role in the cellular mechanisms associated with multidrug resistance through its interaction with ABCC2 and PDZK1IP1. May potentiate the CFTR chloride channel activity. May function to connect SCARB1 with the cellular machineries for intracellular cholesterol transport and/or metabolism. May be involved in the regulation of proximal tubular Na(+)-dependent inorganic phosphate cotransport therefore playing an important role in tubule function.

Description:
WPI's microelectrode holder-half-cells couple fluid-filled glass micropipettes to high input impedance amplifiers. A Ag/AgCl pellet (or a silver wire) molded into the holder body provides stable potential. Electrical connection is made via male 2 mm pins or female 2 mm sockets. The pipette may be mounted axially or at right angles to the holder. Pipettes are held with screw-caps or rubber gaskets (without caps). Filling WPI microelectrode holders with electrolytes containing chloride results in stable electrode potential. Suitable electrolytes include KCl, NaCl and CaClâ‚‚. Holders are supplied for standard WPI single capillary tubing of 1.0, 1.2, 1.5 and 2.0 mm outside diameters. (Call WPI regarding custom designs for other glass diameters.) The holder style you select will depend on your experimental application, space, and instrumentation.

Description:
SCGN is a 276 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that contains six EF-hand domains and is related to the calicium-binding proteins Calretinin and Calbindin D28K. Expressed in a variety of tissues including stomach, thyroid, colon, brain and neuroendocrine cells, SCGN is thought to be involved in cell proliferation and KCl (potassium chloride)-mediated calcium flux events. Through its interaction with KCl and its subsequent ability to modulate calcium storage pools within the cell, SCGN may function to negatively control growth and differentiation rates and, thus, indirectly inhibit cell replication.

Description:
Voltage-gated K+ channels in the plasma membrane are important regulators of electrical signaling, controlling the repolarization and the frequency of action potentials in neurons, muscles and other excitable cells. KCNT2 is a 1,135 amino acid multi-pass transmembrane protein belonging to the potassium channel family (calcium-activated subfamily) of proteins. KCNT2 produces rapidly activating outward rectifier potassium currents in reponse to high intracellular sodium and chloride levels. Its channel activity is inhibited by ATP, inhalation anesthetics, such as isoflourane, and upon stimulation of G-protein coupled receptors, such as mAChR M1 and GluR-1. There are four isoforms of KCNT2 that are produced as a result of alternative splicing events.
