Description:
BICD1 Antibody: BICD1 was initially identified as the human homolog to Drosophila Bicaudal-D protein that forms part of the cytoskeleton and mediates the correct sorting of mRNAs for oocyte- and axis-determining factors during oogenesis. BICD1 can bind to dynein-dynactin and co-localizes with Rab6A on the trans-Golgi network and cytoplasmic vesicles, suggesting BICD1 regulates COPI-independent Golgi-ER transport. BICD1 will also interact with Rab6B, a Rab6 isoform that is expressed primarily in brain. Live cell imaging showed bi-directional movement of Rab6B structures in SK-N-SH neurites, indicating that BICD1 is involved in the Rab6B regulation of retrograde cargo transport in neuronal cells.

Description:
Neurotrypsin is a central nervous system-expressed serine protease whose truncation or absence causes nonsyndromic mental retardation. It is most prominently expressed in structures that are involved in the processing and storage of learned behavior and memory, such as the cerebral cortex, the hippocampus, and amygdala. Evidence suggests that neurotrypsin has multiple functions, including axonal outgrowth, maintaining neuronal plasticity, and arranging the perineuronal environment, partly in coordination with other proteases including tissue plasminogen activator. At least two isoforms of neurotrypsin are known to exist.

Description:
Dystrophin(DMD) gene has 79 exons spanning at least 2,300 kb (2.3 Mb). The C terminus of the dystrophin protein is encoded by a highly conserved, alternatively spliced region of the gene. beta-dystroglycan binding activity is expressed by the dystrophin fragment spanning amino acids 3026-3345 containing the ZZ domain. DMD transcript is formed by at least 60 exons; the first half of the transcript is formed by a minimum of 33 exons spanning nearly 1000 kb, and the remaining portion has at least 27 exons that may spread over a similar distance. Dystrophin gene is expressed at a higher level in primary cultures of neuronal cells than in astro-glial cells derived from adult mouse brain. overexpression of dystrophin prevents the development of the abnormal mechanical properties associated with dystrophic muscle without causing deleterious side effects. This antibody is suitable for researchers interested in Muscular Dystrophies and Dystrophin-Glycoprotein Complexes and cardiovascular research.

Description:
This gene encodes a bi-functional protein. In the cytoplasm, the encoded protein binds the cytoplasmic tail of human surface antigen CD2 via its C-terminal GYF domain, and regulate CD2-triggered T lymphocyte activation. In the nucleus, this protein is a component of the U5 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein complex and is involved in RNA splicing. A pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 7. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants but their biological validity has not been determined.

Description:
Sorting nexin 1 (SNX1) is a member of a large family of hydrophilic proteins that interact with a variety of receptor types and are involved in intracellular trafficking (1). SNX1 and the related splice variant, SNX1A, bind the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor, facilitate its transport to lysosome, and thereby contribute to the degradation of the receptor (2,3). SNX2 and SNX4 share a high degree of amino acid similarity with SNX1, as they all contain a characteristic phox homology (PX) domain (4). These proteins are all partially associated with cellular membranes, and they, likewise, associate with EGF, PDGF and insulin receptor tyrosine kinases (2). These nexins are widely expressed and yet have various tissue distribution patterns. Additionally, the sorting nexins can associate with each other and with a variety of other cellular proteins, suggesting that they exist as part of multisubunit complexes (1,5). The related protein, SNX3, comprises a distinct subgroup of nexins that share less sequence similarity outside of the PX domain and have dramatically different binding affinities for the tyrosine kinase receptors (2,6).

Description:
SHBG is a steroid binding protein that was first described as a plasma protein secreted by the liver and is thought to participate in the regulation of steroid responses. SHBG transports androgens and estrogens in the blood, binding each steroid molecule as a dimer formed from identical or nearly identical monomers (1). Low plasma SHBG levels are associated with obesity, abdominal adiposity, metabolic syndrome, and predict the development of type 2 diabetes (2,3). Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with polycystic ovary syndrome and type 2 diabetes mellitus (4).

Description:
EBI3 is a subunit in two distinct heterodimeric cytokines: interleukin-27 (IL-27) and IL-35. Like interleukin-23 (IL-23), IL-27 is a recently discovered member of the IL-6/IL-12 family of proinflammatory and immunoregulatory cytokines. It exists as a heterodimer composed of the p40-related protein EBI3 and an IL-12 p35-related protein termed p28. IL-27 is produced after activation by antigen-presenting cells and induces proliferation of naïve but not memory CD4+ T-cells. It acts by binding to its receptor WSX-1 (also known as TCCR) and gp130 which results in the activation of a Jak/STAT signaling cascade, suggesting the IL-27 is involved in the regulation of immune processes. It has been suggested that IL-27 can also be used as a therapeutic agent against cancer as it can also induce tumor-specific anti-tumor activity mediated through CD8+ T-cells, IFN-gamma, and T-bet. IL-35 is composed of EBI3 and the p35 subunit of IL-12 and has been reported to have therapeutic effects against collagen-induced arthritis by expanding the population of regulatory T cells and suppressing Th17 cells. At least two isoform of EBI3 are known to exist.
