Description:
C2ORF25 is a mitochondrial protein and its function is not fully identified. But, Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is an essential cofactor in several metabolic pathways. Intracellular conversion of cobalamin to adenosylcobalamin in mitochondria and to methylcobalamin in cytoplasm is necessary for homeostasis of methylmalonic acid and homocysteine. C2ORF25 encodes a protein involved in an early step of cobalamin metabolism.

DHRS13 (dehydrogenase/reductase SDR family member 13), also known as UNQ419/PRO853, is a 377 amino acid secreted protein belonging to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family. DHRS13 is presumed to function as an oxidoreductase and is phosphorylated, potentially by ATM or ATR, upon DNA damage. DHRS13 exists as two isoforms produced by alternative splicing events. The gene encoding DHRS13 maps to human chromosome 17, which comprises over 2.5% of the human genome and encodes over 1,200 genes. Neurofibromatosis, dysregulated Schwann cell growth, Alexander disease, Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome and Canavan disease are associated with chromosome 17.

Description:
Receptors for the Fc region of immunoglobin G (Fc gamma R) are divided into three classes and Fc gamma RIII is a multifunctional, low/intermediate affinity receptor. In humans, Fc gamma RIII is expressed as two distinct forms (Fc gamma RIIIA and Fc gamma RIIIB) that are encoded by two different but highly homologous genes in a cell type-specific manner. Fc gamma RIIIB is a low-affinity, GPI-linked receptor expressed by neutrophils and eosinophils, whereas Fc gamma RIIIA is an intermediate affinity polypeptide-anchored transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by a subset of T lymphocytes, natural killer (NK) cells, monocytes, and macrophages. The Fc gamma RIIIA receptor is involved in phagocytosis, secretion of enzymes, inflammatory mediators, antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), mast cell degranulation, and clearance of immune complexes. Fc gamma RIIIA has an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM) in its cytoplasmic domain and delivers an activation signal in the immune responses. Aberrant expression or mutations in this gene is implicated in susceptibility to recurrent viral infections, systemic lupus erythematosus, and alloimmune neonatal neutropenia. In humans, it is a 50 -70 kD type I transmembrane activating receptor. The Fc gamma RIIIA cDNA encodes 254 amino acid including a 16aa signal sequence, 191 amino acid ECD with two C2-type Ig-like domains, five potential N-glycosylation sites, a 22 amino acid transmembrane sequence and a 25 amino acid cytoplasmic domain.

Description:
Part of pre- and post-splicing multiprotein mRNP complexes. Involved in numerous pre-mRNA processing events. Promotes constitutive and exonic splicing enhancer (ESE)-dependent splicing activation by bridging together sequence-specific (SR family proteins, SFRS4, SFRS5 and TRA2B/SFRS10) and basal snRNP (SNRP70 and SNRPA1) factors of the spliceosome. Stimulates mRNA 3'-end cleavage independently of the formation of an exon junction complex. Binds both pre-mRNA and spliced mRNA 20-25 nt upstream of exon-exon junctions. Binds RNA and DNA with low sequence specificity and has similar preference for either double- or single-stranded nucleic acid substrates.

Description:
URB-597 is a potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), which is involved in the hydrolysis of endogenous cannabinoids such as anandamide. Inhibition of FAAH may serve to enhance the analgesic effects of endogenous cannabinoids. URB-597 has been shown to inhibit FAAH in rat cortical neuron membranes and in intact neurons with IC50 values of 4.6nM and 0.5nM, respectively. The compound has also been shown to have anxiolytic effects in rats (ID50=0.15mg/kg). Because URB-597 acts on FAAH and does not interfere with the binding of anandamide to the CB1 and CB2 receptors, it is a novel tool for drug development.

Mitoferrin 2, also known as MRS3/4 (mitochondrial RNA-splicing protein 3/4 homolog), mitochondrial iron transporter 2, NPD016, MRS4L or SLC25A28 (solute carrier family 25 member 28), is a 364 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein of the mitochondrial inner membrane that mediates iron uptake. Mitoferrin 2 is thought to play a role in heme synthesis of hemoproteins and iron-sulfur cluster assembly. Ubiquitously expressed, Mitoferrin 2 is found at high levels in skeletal muscle, heart, placenta, kidney, lung, liver, brain and pancreas. Mitoferrin 2 is a member of the mitochondrial carrier family and undergoes alternative splicing events to produce four isoforms. Mitoferrin 2 contains three solcar repeats and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 10q24.2.

Bcl-6, a transcriptional repressor, binds Stat recognition-like DNA elements and influences germinal center development and cell differentiation. Additionally, Bcl-6 negatively regulates NFâ…¹B expression, thereby inhibiting NFâ…¹B-mediated cellular functions. Bcl-6b (B-cell CLL/lymphoma 6, member B), also known as ZNF62, BAZF or ZBTB28, is a 480 amino acid nuclear protein that contains one BTB (POZ) domain and five C2H2-type zinc fingers. Expressed ubiquitously with highest expression in placenta and heart, Bcl-6b associates with Bcl-6 and functions as a sequence-specific transcriptional repressor that is thought to be necessary for early B-cell development. The gene encoding Bcl-6b maps to human chromosome 17, which comprises over 2.5% of the human genome and encodes over 1,200 genes.

The coiled-coil domain is a structural motif found in proteins that are involved in a diverse array of biological functions such as the regulation of gene expression, cell division, membrane fusion and drug extrusion and delivery. CCDC43 (coiled-coil domain containing 43) is a 224 amino acid protein encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 17q21.31. Encoding over 1,200 genes, chromosome 17 comprises over 2.5% of the human genome. Two key tumor suppressor genes are associated with chromosome 17, namely, p53 and BRCA1. Tumor suppressor p53 is necessary for maintenance of cellular genetic integrity by moderating cell fate through DNA repair versus cell death. Malfunction or loss of p53 expression is associated with malignant cell growth and Li-Fraumeni syndrome.

Sp6, also known as EPFN, EPIPROFIN or KLF14, is a 376 amino acid protein that localizes to the nucleus and contains three C2H2-type zinc fingers. Expressed ubiquitously with higher expression in developing teeth, hair follicles and limb buds, Sp6 functions to bind GC-rich sequences and related GT and CACCC boxes, thereby promoting cellular proliferation. Human Sp6 shares 96% sequence homology with its mouse counterpart, suggesting a conserved role between species. The gene encoding Sp6 maps to human chromosome 17, which comprises over 2.5% of the human genome and encodes over 1,200 genes.
