Description:   Twist2 (Twist homolog 2) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor which acts as a transcriptional repressor. It binds to the E-box consensus sequence 5'-CANNTG-3' and inhibits transcriptional activation by MYOD1, MYOG, MEF2A and MEF2C. Efficient DNA binding requires dimerization with another bHLH protein. Twist2 inhibits the premature or ectopic differentiation of preosteoblast cells during osteogenesis.

Description:   Eukaryotic histones are basic and water-soluble nuclear proteins. They form hetero-octameric nucleosome particles by wrapping 146 base pairs of DNA in a left-handed super-helical turn sequentially to form chromosomal fiber. Two molecules of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4) form the octamer; formed of two H2A-H2B dimers and two H3-H4 dimers, forming two nearly symmetrical halves by tertiary structure. Over 80% of nucleosomes contain the linker Histone H1, derived from an intronless gene that interacts with linker DNA between nucleosomes and mediates compaction into higher order chromatin. Histones are subject to posttranslational modification by enzymes primarily on their N-terminal tails, but also in their globular domains. Such modifications include methylation, citrullination, acetylation, phosphorylation, sumoylation, ubiquitination and ADP-ribosylation.

CF® dyes are Biotium's next-generation fluorescent dyes. CF®488A is a green fluorescent dye (Ex/Em 490/515 nm) with excellent brightness and photostability. The dye is minimally charged for less non-specific binding. CF®488A also is compatible with super-resolution imaging by TIRF.

Description:   Enolase is a glycolytic enzyme catalyzing the reaction pathway between 2-phospho-glycerate and phosphoenol pyruvate. In mammals, enolase molecules are dimers composed of three distinct subunits (alpha, beta and gamma). The alpha subunit is expressed in most tissues and the beta subunit only in muscle. The gamma subunit is expressed primarily in neurons, in normal and in neoplastic neuroendocrine cells. Coexpression of NSE (neuron specific enolase) and chromogranin A is common in neuroendocrine neoplasms.

Description:   The Fos gene family consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. These genes encode leucine zipper proteins that can dimerize with proteins of the JUN family, thereby forming the transcription factor complex AP-1. As such, the FOS proteins have been implicated as regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation. In some cases, expression of the FOS gene has also been associated with apoptotic cell death. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Description:   Functions as an androgen transport protein, but may also be involved in receptor mediated processes. Each dimer binds one molecule of steroid. Specific for 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone, testosterone, and 17-beta-estradiol. Regulates the plasma metabolic clearance rate of steroid hormones by controlling their plasma concentration.

Description:   The four human glycoprotein hormones chorionic gonadotropin (CG), luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) are dimers consisting of alpha and beta subunits that are associated noncovalently. The alpha subunits of these hormones are identical, however, their beta chains are unique and confer biological specificity. The protein encoded by this gene is the alpha subunit and belongs to the glycoprotein hormones alpha chain family.

Description:   Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) is the major serum mitogen for cells of mesenchymal origin in humans. The biologically active protein is a dimer composed of two related polypeptides designated A and B. The PDGF protein has been implicated both directly as well as indirectly in several pathological states including neoplasia, arthritis, arteriosclerosis and bone marrow sclerosis.

Description:   Shared cell surface receptor required for the activation of five class 2 cytokines: IL10, IL22, IL26, IL28, and IFNL1. The IFNLR1/IL10RB dimer is a receptor for the cytokine ligands IFNL2 and IFNL3 and mediates their antiviral activity. The ligand/receptor complex stimulate the activation of the JAK/STAT signaling pathway leading to the expression of IFN-stimulated genes (ISG), which contribute to the antiviral state.
