The monoclonal antibody TCR-1 precipitates a heterodimer of Mr 90 kDa (two bands of Mr 50 kDa and 40 kDa upon reduction) on chicken peripheral blood T cells. Deglycosylation of the heterodimer yields two polypeptides of Mr 35 kDa and 32 kDa. Unlike human and mouse in which γδ cells comprise a minor subset of T lymphocytes in the circulation, the chicken has a relatively large subset of γδ T cells. The frequency of TCRγδ cells is typically 20-25% of the total blood T cells but may reach approximately 50% in chickens of six- months of age. The majority of TCRγδ+ cells in the thymus and blood are CD4-CD8- although a small subset of them may express CD8 or CD4 coreceptors. However, when the TCRγδ+ cells migrate into the spleen and intestine most of them begin to express CD8. Although the biological function of γδ T cells is unclear, they are clearly capable of cytotoxic activity in vitro. The CD8+ γδ T cells may also be involved in down-regulation of the immune response. They cannot, however, induce a graft-vs-host (GVH) reactions.

Syntaxin 1, also known as HPC1, is a 35 kDa integral membrane protein which along with SNAP25, and VAMP/synaptobrevin plays a role in vesicular trafficking and membrane fusion. Two Syntaxin 1 isoforms have been identified, Syntaxin 1A which is localized to nerve terminals of sensory neurons and nerve fibers reaching small blood vessels, and Syntaxin 1B which is localized to motor end plates and muscle spindles. The SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide sensitive fusion protein [NSF] attachment protein [SNAPs] receptors)hypothesis of membrane fusion proposes that Syntaxin 1A and SNAP25 (target membrane SNAREs, t-SNAREs) and VAMP/synaptobrevin (vesicular SNAREs, vSNAREs) bind together to form a tripartite structure that along with soluble cytosolic proteins allows for close membrane apposition of donor and target membranes thereby facilitating membrane fusion. Alpha-2 Macroglobulin is a serine proteases inhibitor, which inhibits coagulation by inactivating thrombin and Kallikrein, it inhibits fibrinolysis by inactivating plasmin and involved in insulin transport. Alpha-2-Macroglobulin is a large plasma protein, which is produced by the liver, it’s composed of 4 identical subunits bound together by -S-S- bonds. A2M is able to inactivate many kinds of proteinases (including serine-, cysteine-, aspartic- and metalloproteinases). A2M has a 35 amino acid "bait" region in its structure. Proteinases bind and cleave the “bait” region become bound to A2M. Macrophage receptors recognize the proteinase-A2M complex and clear it from the system. A2M binds to and removes MMP-2 and MMP-9 (active forms of the gelatinase) from the circulation using scavenger receptors on the phagocytes. The levels of Alpha-2-macroglobulin are increased in nephrotic syndrome which is a condition where the kidneys start to leak out some of the smaller blood proteins. Due to its large size, A2-macroglobulin is retained in the bloodstream. Increased production of all proteins causes A2-macroglobulin concentration to increase. Chronic renal failure might lead to amyloid by alpha-2-macroglobulin. A2M is raised in cirrhosis, pregnancy and diabetes.
