Description:
Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules form an integral part of the immune response system. They are cell-surface receptors that bind peptides and present them to T lymphocytes. Human leukocyte antigens (HLAs) are polymorphic members of the MHC family that are specifically involved in the presentation of antigens to the T cell receptor. There are two classes of HLA antigens: class I (HLA-A, HLA-B and HLA-C) and class II (HLA-D). Class I molecules are expressed in nearly all cells and play a central role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from the endoplasmic reticulum. The differential structural properties of MHC class I and class II molecules account for their respective roles in activating different populations of T lymphocytes. HLA-B encodes a membrane anchored heavy chain which hetero-dimerizes with a light chain (∫-2-Microglobulin) to form MHC-I. Polymorphisms yield hundreds of HLA-B alleles. The HLA-B27 allele appears with increased frequency in uveitis patients.

Description:
This gene encodes a lipid-binding protein belonging to the apolipoprotein gene family. The protein is thought to play a role in lipid metabolism. Polymorphisms in this gene may influence circulating lipid levels and may be associated with coronary artery disease risk. This gene is present in a cluster with other related apolipoprotein genes on chromosome 19. Naturally occurring read-through transcription exists between this gene and the neighboring downstream apolipoprotein C-II (APOC2) gene.

Description:
Nox4 is a renal gp91-phox homolog highly expressed at the site of erythropoietin production in the proximal convoluted tubule epithelial cells of the renal cortex. Nox4 is also expressed in fetal tissues, placenta, glioblastoma and vascular cells. Like gp91-phox, the enzymatic activity of Nox4 produces superoxide anions. In vascular cells, the addition of angiotensin II increases Nox4 expression, which suggests a role for Nox-4 in vascular oxidative stress response.

Description:
This gene encodes a type II transmembrane serine protease. The encoded protein has an extracellular region that consists of two domains, a catalytic serine protease domain and a non-catalytic scavenger receptor cysteine-rich domain. This protein may be involved in diverse cellular functions including blood coagulation, maintenance of cell morphology and the growth and progression of certain cancers, particularly prostate cancer. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

PPP1A is a serine/threonine protein phosphatase catalytic subunit that is essential for regulating cellular stress responses in eukaryotes. It binds to magnesium or manganese ions and exists as a monomer. It is essential for cell division, and participates in the regulation of glycogen metabolism, muscle contractility and protein synthesis. PPP1A is involved in the regulation long term synaptic plasticity and may play an important role in dephosphorylating substrates such as Ca2+/calmodulin dependent protein kinase II.

Description:
Alpha-methyacyl-CoA racemase (AMCR), is an enzyme invloved in beta oxidation of branched chain fatty acids and bile salt intermediates, and has recently been identified as a neomarker for prostate cancer, where it is over expressed. Several different isoforms have been reported that are produced either by extensinve alternatve splicing of 5 exons or by use of alternate initiation codons. At least 2 different transcripts, each derived from the 5 exons, have been reported, AMCR I and AMCR II. AMCR I is the most abundant form and enclodes for a 382 amino acid protein (42kDa). The other isoform AMCR II exhibits significnat homolgy to fumerate hydratase and encoes a 288 amino acid protein (32 kDa). Several other variants of IA and IIA isoforms are charcterized recently. The variants lack exon 3 and are designated as IB and IIB. In prostate tumor tissues that over express AMCR, both the A and B forms are over-expressed.

Description:
IGFBP4 is a member of the insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP) family. IGFBP4 is a protein with an IGFBP domain and a thyroglobulin type-I domain. The protein binds both insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) I and II and circulates in the plasma in both glycosylated and non-glycosylated forms. Binding of this protein prolongs the half-life of the IGFs and alters their interaction with cell surface receptors. This gene is a member of the insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP) family and encodes a protein with an IGFBP domain and a thyroglobulin type-I domain. Description:
This antibody recognizes a protein of 55 kDa, identified as CD4. It is a membrane glycoprotein of T lymphocytes that interacts with major histocompatibility complex class II antigens and is also a receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus. This protein is expressed not only in T lymphocytes, but also in B cells, macrophages, and granulocytes. It is also expressed in specific regions of the brain. The protein functions to initiate or augment the early phase of T-cell activation, and may function as an important mediator of indirect neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated diseases of the central nervous system. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. This MAb was characterized as human CD4 antibody at II and IV International Workshop on Human Leukocyte Differentiation Antigens.
CF® dyes are Biotium's next-generation fluorescent dyes. CF®640R is a far-red fluorescent dye (Ex/Em 642/662 nm) with excellent brightness, and the best photostabiity among spectrally-similar dyes.

Description:
The RM4-5 antibody reacts with mouse CD4, a 55 kDa protein which acts as a co-receptor for the T cell receptor (TCR) in its interaction with MHC Class II molecules on antigen-presenting cells. The extracellular domain of CD4 binds to the beta2-domain of MHC Class II, while its cytoplasmic tail provides a binding site for the tyrosine kinase lck, facilitating the signaling cascade that initiates T cell activation. CD4 is typically expressed on thymocytes, certain mature T cell populations such as Th17 and T regulatory (Treg) cells, as well as on dendritic cells. The RM4-5 antibody is widely used as a phenotypic marker for CD4 expression. If used together, the RM4-5 antibody and an alternative antibody, Anti-Mouse CD4 clone GK1.5, will compete for binding, i.e. RM4-5 antibody is able to block GK1.5 antibody binding to cells. In contrast, RM4-5 antibody does not block the binding of Anti-Mouse CD4 clone RM4-4 to cells.

Description:
There are two forms of glutamic acid decarboxylases (GADs) that exist in brain: GAD-65 (also known as GAD2) and GAD-67 (also known as GAD1, GAD or SCP). GAD-65 and GAD-67 are members of the group II decarboxylase family of proteins and are responsible for catalyzing the rate limiting step in the production of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) from L-glutamic acid. Although both GADs are found in brain, GAD-65 localizes to synaptic vesicle membranes in nerve terminals, while GAD-67 is distributed throughout the cell. GAD-67 is responsible for the basal levels of GABA synthesis. In the case of a heightened demand for GABA in neurotransmission, GAD-65 transiently activates to assist in GABA production. As a member of the group II decarboxylase family, GADL1 (Glutamate decarboxylase-like protein 1) is a 521 amino acid protein that utilizes pyridoxal phosphate as a cofactor for its carboxylase activity. There are two isoforms of GADL1 that exist as a result of alternative splicing events.
