Cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI or MTCO1) is one of three mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) encoded subunits (MTCO1, MTCO2, MTCO3) of respiratory Complex IV. Complex IV is located within the mitochondrial inner membrane and is the third and final enzyme of the electron transport chain of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. Complex IV is composed of 13 polypeptides. Subunits I, II, and III (MTCO1, MTCO2, MTCO3) are encoded by mtDNA while subunits IV, Va, Vb, VIa, VIb, VIc, VIIa, VIIb, VIIc, and VIII are nuclear encoded. Mammalian MTCO1 has 12 membrane-spanning alpha-helices (I to XII).

Description:
This gene encodes a member of the tyrosine kinase and, more specifically, the Janus kinases (JAKs) protein families. This protein associates with the cytoplasmic domain of type I and type II cytokine receptors and promulgate cytokine signals by phosphorylating receptor subunits. It is also component of both the type I and type III interferon signaling pathways. As such, it may play a role in anti-viral immunity. A mutation in this gene has been associated with hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES) - a primary immunodeficiency characterized by elevated serum immunoglobulin E. [provided by RefSeq].

Description:
Synapsin I, II and III belong to a family of neuron-specific phosphoproteins which maintain a reserve pool of vesicles in the vicinity of the active zone by tethering synaptic vesicles to each other and to an Actin-based cytoskeleton meshwork. They have been shown to regulate neurotransmitter release in mature synapses and to accelerate development of the nervous system.

Description:
Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 3, also known as Lymphotoxin-beta receptor,Tumor necrosis factor C receptor,Tumor necrosis factor receptor 2-related protein,Tumor necrosis factor receptor type III,LTBR,TNFCR, TNFR3 and TNFRSF3, is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family of receptors. LTBR is a single-pass type I membrane protein and contains four TNFR-Cys repeats. It is expressed on the surface of most cell types, but not on T and B lymphocytes. LTBR and its ligand play a role in the development and organization of lymphoid tissue and transformed cells. Activation of LTBR can trigger apoptosis. In addition, LTBR can lead to the release of the cytokine interleukin 8.

Description:
Dynamin is a member of a group of nerve terminal proteins called dephosphins that regulate synaptic vesicle endocytosis (Cousin et al., 2001; Graham et al., 2002; Tsuboi et al., 2002). There are 3 known isofoms of Dynamin, each having several splice variants as well. Dynamin I is expressed only in neurons whereas Dynamin II is ubiquitously expressed and Dynamin III is found primarily in the testes. Dynamin 1 is phosphorylated by PKC and dephosphorylated by calcineurin.

Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. Description:
LRFN1 is a 771 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that belongs to the LRFN family. Containing a fibronectin type-III domain, an Ig-like (immunoglobulin-like) domain, a LRRCT domain, a LRRNT domain and seven LRR (leucine-rich) repeats, LRFN1 is thought to promote neurite outgrowth in hippocampal neurons and is involved in the regulation and maintenance of excitatory synapses. LRFN1 forms heteromeric complexes with LRFN2, LRFN3, LFRN4 and LFRN5, but does not have the ability to form homomeric complexes across cell junctions of adjacent cells like other LRFN family members. The PDZ-binding motif of LRFN1 is required for neurite outgrowth promotion and for SAP 97-, NE-dlg- and PSD-95-binding. LRFN1 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 19q13.2 and mouse chromosome 7 A3.

Description:
VPS24 encodes a protein that acts in the sorting of transmembrane proteins into lysosomes/vacuoles via the multivesicular body (MVB) pathway. This protein, along with other soluble coiled-coil containing proteins, forms part of the ESCRT-III protein complex that binds to the endosomal membrane and recruits additional cofactors for protein sorting into the MVB. This protein may also co-immunoprecipitate with a member of the IFG-binding protein superfamily.
