Description:
Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMP's are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. The protein encoded by this gene cleaves type II collagen more efficiently than types I and III. It may be involved in articular cartilage turnover and cartilage pathophysiology associated with osteoarthritis. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3. Description:
Myostatin is a TGF-beta family member that acts as an inhibitor of skeletal muscle growth. This muscle-specific cytokine interacts with Activin type I and type II receptors, and suppresses myoblast proliferation by arresting cell-cycle in the G1 phase. Suppression of myostatin activity facilitates muscle formation and may be useful in reducing and/or preventing adiposity and type-2 diabetes. Myostatin activity can be blocked by the Activin-binding protein Follistatin, and by the propeptide of Myostatin. Recombinant Human myostatin is a 25.0 kDa protein consisting of two identical 109 amino acid polypeptides linked by a single disulfide bond.

Description:
Cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI or MTCO1) is one of three mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) encoded subunits (MTCO1, MTCO2, MTCO3) of respiratory Complex IV. Complex IV is located within the mitochondrial inner membrane and is the third and final enzyme of the electron transport chain of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. Complex IV is composed of 13 polypeptides. Subunits I, II, and III (MTCO1, MTCO2, MTCO3) are encoded by mtDNA while subunits IV, Va, Vb, VIa, VIb, VIc, VIIa, VIIb, VIIc, and VIII are nuclear encoded. Mammalian MTCO1 has 12 membrane-spanning alpha-helices (I to XII).

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The encoded protein, which is normally found in the Golgi apparatus but which can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form, is involved in the generation of the cell surface carbohydrate determinants and differentiation antigens HB6, CDw75, and CD76. This protein is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Gentamycin Sulfate is a broad-spectrum, aminoglycoside antibiotic used for cell culture which inhibits protein synthesis in sensitive organisms. Reported to have activity against gram-negative bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus and some mycoplasmas. Reported to have low toxicity to mammalian cells and viruses at certain concentrations, useful for long-term tissue culture studies with viruses.

Description:
This gene encodes the beta subunit of casein kinase II, a ubiquitous protein kinase which regulates metabolic pathways, signal transduction, transcription, translation, and replication. The enzyme is composed of three subunits, alpha, alpha prime and beta, which form a tetrameric holoenzyme. The alpha and alpha prime subunits are catalytic, while the beta subunit serves regulatory functions. The enzyme localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus.

TYK2 Antibody: TYK2 is a member of the Janus kinases (JAKs) protein families. TYK2 associates with the cytoplasmic domain of type I and type II cytokine receptors and promulgate cytokine signals by phosphorylating receptor subunits and is also a component of both the type I and type III interferon signaling pathways. As such, it may play a role in anti-viral immunity. A mutation in this gene has been associated with hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES) - a primary immunodeficiency characterized by elevated serum immunoglobulin E.

The NOK-1 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with human CD178, which is the CD95 or Fas ligand. CD178 is a TNF superfamily type II transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by activated T and NK cells and is involved in Fas-mediated apoptosis of lymphocytes. CD178 is also expressed by monocytes, neutrophils, granulocytes and the parenchymal cells of the retina and cornea. The NOK-1 antibody has been reported to bind to COOH-terminus of the Fas ligand in the region associated with Fas binding.
