LAG-1 is CC chemokine that signals through the CCR5 receptor. LAG-1 is identical to MIP-1β (ACT II isotype) except for two amino acid substitutions; arginine for histidine at position 22 and serine for glycine at position 47 of the mature protein. LAG-1 chemoattracts monocytes, and exhibits activity as an HIV-suppressive factor. Recombinant Human LAG-1 (CCL4L1) is a 7.7 kDa protein containing 69 amino acid residues.

Description:
CESK1, also known as CCT8L2 (chaperonin containing TCP1, subunit 8 theta-like 2), is a 557 amino acid protein that localizes to the cytoplasm and is thought to function as a molecular chaperone, possibly assisting protein folding after ATP hydrolysis. CESK1 belongs to the TCP-1 chaperonin family and is encoded by a gene which maps to human chromosome 22. Mutations in several of the genes that map to chromosome 22 are involved in the development of Phelan-McDermid syndrome, neurofibromatosis type 2, autism and schizophrenia. Additionally, translocations between chromosomes 9 and 22 may lead to the formation of the Philadelphia chromosome and the subsequent production of the novel fusion protein Bcr-Abl, a potent cell proliferation activator found in several types of leukemias.

Description:
Osteoprotegerin (OPG, or osteoclastogenesis inhibitory factor) is a secretory glycoprotein belonging to TNF receptor superfamily. Acts as decoy receptor for RANKL and thereby neutralizes its function in osteoclastogenesis. Inhibits the activation of osteoclasts and promotes osteoclast apoptosis. Bone homeostasis seems to depend on the local RANKL/OPG ratio. May also play a role in preventing arterial calcification. May act as decoy receptor for TRAIL and protect against apoptosis. TRAIL binding blocks the inhibition of osteoclastogenesis. OPG acts as a soluble factor in the regulation of bone mass and may be beneficial in the treatment of osteoporosis with increased osteoclast activity. OPG consists of 401 amino acids with a molecular weight of 44 kDa as a monomer and 90 kDa as a disulphide-linked dimer.

Description:
SLC27A2 is an isozyme of long-chain fatty-acid-coenzyme A ligase family. Although differing in substrate specificity, subcellular localization, and tissue distribution, all isozymes of this family convert free long-chain fatty acids into fatty acyl-CoA esters, and thereby play a key role in lipid biosynthesis and fatty acid degradation. This isozyme activates long-chain, branched-chain and very-long-chain fatty acids containing 22 or more carbons to their CoA derivatives. It is expressed primarily in liver and kidney, and is present in both endoplasmic reticulum and peroxisomes, but not in mitochondria. Its decreased peroxisomal enzyme activity is in part responsible for the biochemical pathology in X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy. The protein encoded by this gene is an isozyme of long-chain fatty-acid-coenzyme A ligase family. Description:
FAM84A is a 292 amino acid protein that belongs to the FAM84 family of proteins. Predominantly expressed in testis, FAM84A shares 44% amino acid identity with the related protein FAM84B. FAM84A localizes to a subcellular membrane region where there is no contact between neighboring cells and is believed to play a role in cell morphology and motility. More specifically, the expression of FAM84A increases cell motility. Two FAM84A isoforms are expressed due to alternative splicing events. Isoform 2 can be phosphorylated on various serine residues and this phosphorylation is associated with cellular morphology. FAM84A is upregulated in colorectal cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, cholangiocarcinoma and bladder cancer tissues. Via its ability to increase cell motility, FAM84A may contribute to the invasion and metastasis of cancer cells.
