Functioning as a component of the multisynthase complex, ProRS uses ATP to catalyze the conversion of L-glutamate and tRNA(Glu) to L-glutamyl-tRNA(Glu), as well as the conversion of L-proline and tRNA(Pro) to L-prolyl-tRNA(Pro).

Oncostatin M (OSM) is a growth and differentiation factor that participates in the regulation of neurogenesis, osteogenesis and hematopoiesis. Produced by activated T cells, monocytes and Kaposi's sarcoma cells, OSM can exert both stimulatory and inhibitory effects on cell proliferation. It stimulates the proliferation of fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells and Kaposi's sarcoma cells, but inhibits the growth of some normal and tumor cell lines. It also promotes cytokine release (e.g. IL-6, GM-CSF and G-CSF) from endothelial cells, and enhances the expression of low-density lipoprotein receptors in hepatoma cells. OSM shares several structural and functional characteristics with LIF, IL-6, and CNTF. Human OSM is active on murine cells. The human OSM gene encodes for a 252 amino acid polypeptide, containing 25 amino acid signal sequence for secretion and a 227 precursor protein. Proteolytic processing of this precursor removes an 18 amino acid C-terminal peptide, and generates the mature OSM form. Recombinant Human Oncostatin M is a 23.6 kDa protein, containing 209 amino acid residues.

AHNAK is a 5,890 amino acid protein encoded by the human gene AHNAK. The intronless AHNAK gene is located on human chromosome 11q12 and has three main structural regions: the 251 amino acid N-terminus, a large central region of 4390 amino acids with multiple repeated units of about 128 amino acids in length, and the 1002 amino acid C-terminus. The central region seems to have antiparallel beta-strands connected by intervening loops. Several putative regulatory elements are clustered within the C-terminal region, including nuclear export localization signals, a leucine zipper, and potential phosphorylation sites for Akt1 and PKC. AHNAK is believed to be an important signalling molecule involved in a wide range of physiological activities and may be required for neuronal cell differentiation.. AHNAK also appears to influence b-adrenergic regulation of cardiac L-type Ca2+ channel function.

It contains an 18 amino acid signal sequence, a 620 amino acid extracellular region, a 23 amino acid transmembrane fragment, and a 103 amino acid cytoplasmic domain. pIgR is synthesized by secretory epithelial cells with five Ig-like domains in extracellular region, and transfer to the basolateral plasma membrane. For IgA and IgM polymers, in addition to alpha-heavy chains and light Ig chains, a short polypeptide named joining chain (J chain) is also contained and required. pIgR can bind larger polymers of IgA (pIgA) and pentameric IgM as a carrier that transports IgA and IgM across epithelium. The receptor-ligand complexes are endocytosed and transcytosed to the apical surface, then proteolytic cleavage of the sixth extracellular domain of pIgR and generate secretory IgA (SIgA), the pIgR fragment is referred to as secretory component (SC). SIgA is a important component of the mucosal immune system. SC is anti-microbial properties and protects SIgA from proteolytic degradation
