Description:
Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A1 (hnRNP A1) is a member of the hnRNP A/B family of related RNA binding proteins that bind pre-mRNA and are involved in the processing, metabolism and transport of nuclear pre-mRNA transcripts. hnRNP A1 regulates the alternative splicing of c-Src, c-H-Ras and modifies initiation of translation of the fibroblast growth factor 2 mRNA. hnRNP A1 expression level is elevated in many cancers; knockdown of hnRNP A1 leads to apoptosis in various cancer cells. Although predominantly nuclear, hnRNP A1 is continually transported from the nucleus to the cytoplasm where it disassociates from mRNA and is rapidly re-imported into the nucleus. hnRNP A1 binds to cis-acting repressive sequences (CRS) of HIV-1 to influence HIV-1 production. HIV-1 enhances hnRNP A1 expression and promotes the relocalization of hnRNP A1 to the cytoplasm ,

Description:
Subunit of clathrin-associated adaptor protein complex 1 that plays a role in protein sorting in the trans-Golgi network (TGN) and endosomes. The AP complexes mediate the recruitment of clathrin to membranes and the recognition of sorting signals within the cytosolic tails of transmembrane cargo molecules.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is an enzyme that synthesizes the prenyl side-chain of coenzyme Q, or ubiquinone, one of the key elements in the respiratory chain. The gene product catalyzes the formation of all trans-polyprenyl pyrophosphates from isopentyl diphosphate in the assembly of polyisoprenoid side chains, the first step in coenzyme Q biosynthesis. Defects in this gene are a cause of coenzyme Q10 deficiency.

Cell Biolabs’ OxiSelect™ Nitric Oxide (Nitrite/Nitrate) Assay Kit is a simple, colorimetric assay that quantitatively measures NO in various samples by NO2-/NO3- determination. First, the nitrate (NO3-) in the sample is converted to nitrite (NO2-) by nitrate reductase enzyme. Next, total nitrite is detected with Griess Reagents as a dye product. Kits are available with either colorimetric or fluorometric detection.

Description:
Members of the protein kinase C (PKC) family function in many extracellular receptor-mediated signal transduction pathways. See PRKCA (MIM 176960) for further background information. The PRKCM gene encodes a cytosolic serine-threonine kinase that binds to the trans-Golgi network and regulates the fission of transport carriers specifically destined to the cell surface.[supplied by OMIM]

Description:
Involved in autophagy and cytoplasm to vacuole transport (Cvt) vesicle formation. Plays a key role in the organization of the preautophagosomal structure/phagophore assembly site (PAS), the nucleating site for formation of the sequestering vesicle. Cycles between a juxta-nuclear trans-Golgi network compartment and late endosomes. Nutrient starvation induces accumulation on autophagosomes. Starvation-dependent trafficking requires ULK1, ATG13 and SUPT20H.

Description:
GM130, a cis-Golgi matrix protein, interacts specifically with p115 and provides a membrane docking site. Both GM130 and p115 are involved in vesicle tethering to Golgi membranes. The protein p115 also binds p400, alternatively called giantin. Giantin, the majority of whose mass projects into the cytoplasm, is involved in the docking of COPI vesicles via p115 to the Golgi membrane. Giantin, which also is known as macrogolgin or Golgi complex-associated protein, is involved in cross-bridge formation in the Golgi complex. Giantin, which can form a homodimer, is a single-pass type I membrane protein that is an antigen in Sjoegren syndrome and in chronic rheumatoid arthritis.

Description:
Cycling proteins play important roles in the organization and function of the early secretory pathway by participating in membrane traffic and selective transport of cargo between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), the intermediate compartment (ERGIC), and the Golgi. A family of membrane bound, ubiquitous proteins involved in the selective transport of newly synthesized glycoproteins from the ER to the ERGIC include VIP36, ERGIC-53, ERGIC-1, ERGIC-2 and ERGIC-3. ERGIC-1, also designated ERGIC32, is thought to modulate the activity of a complex formed by ERGIC-2, also designated Erv41, and ERGIC-3, also designated Erv46. ERGIC-2 and ERGIC-3 are both mammalian homologs of yeast proteins abundant in COPII-coated vesicles and localize to the Cis-face of the Golgi apparatus.
