Nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) are the channels for the bi-directional movement of macromolecules between the nucleus and cytoplasm, and contain more than 100 different subunits. Many of them belong to a family called nucleoporins, which are characterized by the presence of O-linked N-acetylglucosamine moieties and a distinctive pentapeptide repeat (XFXFG). Nuclear pore complex protein Nup107 (Nucleoporin Nup107) is an essential part of the nuclear pore complex which is composed of Nup133, Nup160, Nup107 and Nup96. Nup107 is active in assembling peripheral proteins into this complex. The protein, located on both the nuclear and cytoplasmic sides of the pore, is important in RNA export.

NELL2 is a secreted glycoprotein with one N-terminal TSP-like domain, five VWFC (von Willebrand factor C) domains and six EGF-like repeats that participate in calcium binding. NELL2 exists as a homotrimer associated with the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and is specifically expressed in neurons playing a role in calcium-dependent intracellular events. NELL2 may act as a trophic factor in addition to its role as a signaling molecule implicated in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. Due to alternative splicing, an additional NELL2 isoform exists that is identical to full length NELL2 except that it lacks the signal peptide that directs secretion. The additional isoform is therefore retained in the cytosol and functions as a non-secreted cytoplasmic protein that interacts with PKC bI.

NADPH-diaphorase substrate that competitively inhibits NOS (nitric oxide synthase). Well-known scavenger of superoxide anions. Dye that is used for detection of alkaline phosphatase in combination with 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indoxyl phosphate (BCIP). This substrate system produces an insoluble NBT diformazan end product that is blue in color and can be observed visually. When used with BCIP, it is suitable for detection of alkaline phosphatase in western blots, for immunohistological staining procedures and for colorimetric indication of bacterial infection in blood samples. Used as a redox indicator for enzymatic reactions including dehydrogenases, threonine deaminase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, phosphofructokinase on polyacrylamide gels, oxidases on polyacrylamide gels and pentose shunt dehydrogenses. The NBT/BCIP reaction is also used for colorimetric/spectrophotometric activity assays of oxidoreductases. One application is in activity stains in gel electrophoresis, such as with the mitochondrial electron transport chain complexes.
