GAPDH Antibody: Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) catalyzes the reversible oxidative phosphorylation of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate in the presence of inorganic phosphate and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), an important energy-yielding step in carbohydrate metabolism. Recent evidence suggests that it also is involved in a number of cellular processes such as membrane fusion, phosphotransferase activity, DNA replication and repair, and nuclear RNA export. GAPDH has also been implicated in playing a role in different pathologies such as cancer progression, apoptosis, and neuronal diseases such as Alzheimer's and Huntington's disease. GAPDH is constitutively expressed at high levels in almost all tissues and cell lines making it ideal for use as a loading control marker in immunoblots.

The 3-HAO family of proteins consists of intramolecular dioxygenases that contain non-heme ferrous iron. HAAO (3-hydroxyanthranilate 3,4-dioxygenase), also known as HAO or 3-HAO, is a 286 amino acid monomeric cytoplasmic protein that belongs to the 3-HAO family. Utilizing Fe2+ ions as a cofactor, HAAO participates in the formation of quinolinic acid (QUIN), and excitotoxin, by catalyzing the oxidative ring opening of 3-hydroxyanthranilate to 2-amino-3-carboxymuconate semialdehyde. HAAO may play a role in disorders that are associated with varying levels of QUIN expression, and is widely expressed in peripheral organs, including kidney and liver. Existing as two alternatively spliced isoforms, the gene encoding HAAO maps to human chromosome 2p21 and mouse chromosome 17 E4.

Nitrotyrosine is a marker for inflammation and nitric oxide (NO) production and is formed in the presence of the active metabolite NO. While multiple nonenzymatic mechanisms are known to be capable of producing nitrated tyrosine residues, most tyrosine nitration events involve catalysis by metalloproteins such as myeloperoxidase, eosinophilperoxidase, myoglobin, the cytochrome P-450s, superoxide dismutase, and prostacyclin synthase. Because nitrotyrosine is a stable product of multiple pathways, such as the formation of peroxynitrite, its plasma concentration may be a useful determinant of NO-dependent damage in vivo. Nitrotyrosine has been detected in inflammatory diseases such as septic shock, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease, atherosclerosis, and chronic renal failure.
