TXNDC5 is a protein-disulfide isomerase. Its expression is induced by hypoxia and its role may be to protect hypoxic cells from apoptosis. ERp19 and ERp46 are two newly discovered ER luminal proteins, related to protein disulphide isomerase. Western and Northern blot analyses have revealed that both ERp19 and ERp46 and their respective mRNAs are highly expressed in the liver as compared with other tissues. Both proteins are enriched in purified liver ER vesicles and were localized specifically to the ER in McA-RH7777 hepatocytes. See Knoblach et al. for details.

Trefoil factor 1 (TFF1, pS2) is a small secreted protein with molecular weight of 6.5 kDa (monomers, 14 kDa – dimers). It belongs to the TFF protein family that is characterized by a clover leaf–like disulphide structure named the TFF domain, which is created by 6 cysteines forming three intramolecular bonds. TFF1 contains one trefoil domain, but has a seventh cysteine in position 57 that is essential for formation of dimers. TFF1 exist as both monomers and dimers (homo- and heterodimers – with gastrokine 2). The most abundant expression of TFF1 is found in the GI tract (especially in stomach, colon and pancreas) where it is co-localised with mucins, usually with MUC5AC.

Trefoil factor 2 (TFF2) (PSP – pancreatic spasmolytic polypeptide) is a small secreted protein with a molecular weight of 12 kDa. It belongs to the TFF protein family that is characterized by a clover leaf–like disulphide structure named the TFF domain, which is created by 6 cysteines forming three intramolecular bonds. TFF2 contains two trefoil domains and has a very compact structure which may account for its extremely high resistance against the harsh environment in the gastrointestinal tract. The most abundant expression of TFFs is found in GI tract (especially in stomach, colon and pancreas), where they are co-localised with mucins. TFF2 is usually co-localised with MUC6 and probably mediates mucin cross-linking and stabilization of the mucin layer as do the other members of the TFF family.

This antibody recognizes a protein of 32 kDa, identified as CD8a (also known as CD8 chain, T cell co-receptor, Leu2, and T8). CD8 molecule consists of two chains, termed and chain, which are expressed as a disulphide-linked heterodimer or as an homodimer. CD8 is expressed on T cell subset (cytotoxic/suppressor T cells), thymocytes and NK cells. The majority of CD8 T-cells expresses CD8 as heterodimer. Some subpopulation of CD8 T cells as well as NK cells may express homodimer. CD8 functions as a co-receptor in concert with TCR for binding the MHC class I/peptide complex. The HIV-2 envelope glycoprotein binds CD8 chain (but not chain). The cytoplasmic domain of CD8 associates with p56lck tyrosine kinase.
