Description:
The tripartite motif (TRIM) family of proteins are characterized by a conserved TRIM domain that includes a coiled-coil region, a B-box type zinc finger, one RING finger and three zinc-binding domains. Staf-50 (50 kDa-stimulated trans-acting factor), also known as TRIM22 (tripartite motif-containing 22), RNF94 or GPSTAF50, is a 498 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that belongs to the TRIM family and, characteristic of TRIM family members, contains one RING-type zinc finger, one B box-type zinc finger and one SPRY domain. Induced by IFN-å and IFN-∫, Staf-50 is strongly expressed in ovary, spleen, thymus and peripheral blood leukocytes where it is thought to mediate the antiviral effects of IFN proteins. Additionally, Staf-50 is present in leukemic cells, suggesting a role in cancer formation and metastasis. Staf-50 exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms which are encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 11.

Description:
NOTCH1 is a member of the Notch family. Notch family members play a role in a variety of developmental processes by controlling cell fate decisions. The Notch signaling network is an evolutionarily conserved intercellular signaling pathway which regulates interactions between physically adjacent cells. This protein is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network, and presented on the cell surface as a heterodimer. This protein functions as a receptor for membrane bound ligands, and may play multiple roles during development. This gene encodes a member of the Notch family. Members of this Type 1 transmembrane protein family share structural characteristics including an extracellular domain consisting of multiple epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) repeats, and an intracellular domain consisting of multiple, different domain types. Notch family members play a role in a variety of developmental processes by controlling cell fate decisions. The Notch signaling network is an evolutionarily conserved intercellular signaling pathway which regulates interactions between physically adjacent cells. In Drosophilia, notch interaction with its cell-bound ligands (delta, serrate) establishes an intercellular signaling pathway that plays a key role in development. Homologues of the notch-ligands have also been identified in human, but precise interactions between these ligands and the human notch homologues remain to be determined. This protein is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network, and presented on the cell surface as a heterodimer. This protein functions as a receptor for membrane bound ligands, and may play multiple roles during development. Description:
Nectin 2 is a single-pass type I membrane glycoprotein with two Ig-like C2-type domains and an Ig-like V-type domain. This protein is one of the plasma membrane components of adherens junctions. It also serves as an entry for certain mutant strains of herpes simplex virus and pseudorabies virus, and it is involved in cell to cell spreading of these viruses. Variations in this gene have been associated with differences in the severity of multiple sclerosis. Alternate transcriptional splice variants, encoding different isoforms, have been characterized. Can form trans-heterodimers with PVRL3/nectin-3.

Description:
The CD28.2 monoclonal antibody specifically binds with the human 44 kDa homodimeric trans-membrane glycoprotein CD28, expressed on the surface of most mature T lymphocytes, plasma cells, and thymocytes. CD28 is a ligand for B7-1 (CD80) and B7-2 (CD86), a co-stimulator of T lymphocytes, and enhances the interaction between T and B lymphocytes. It has been reported that the T lymphocytes stimulation to produce IL-2 depends on the monoclonal antibody involved, which suggests that the CD28 molecule presents some subregions with distinct functions. The CD28.2 antibody induces Ca2+ influx in Jurkat T lymphocytes. Other studies have shown that CD28 is involved in the signal transduction.

Description:
Acts as a transcriptional regulator. Inhibits myogenesis by sequestrating E proteins, inhibiting trans-activation by MEF2, and inhibiting DNA-binding by MYOD1 through physical interaction. This interaction probably involves the basic domains of both proteins. Also represses expression of proinflammatory cytokines such as TNFA and IL1B. Regulates cranial suture patterning and fusion. Activates transcription as a heterodimer with E proteins. Regulates gene expression differentially, depending on dimer composition. Homodimers induce expression of FGFR2 and POSTN while heterodimers repress FGFR2 and POSTN expression and induce THBS1 expression. Heterodimerization is also required for osteoblast differentiation.

Description:
MECR Antibody: The mitochondrial trans-2-enoyl-CoA reductase (MECR), was initially identified as nuclear receptor-binding factor 1 (NRBF1), which can interact with a multitude of nuclear hormone receptors in the presence of the respective ligands. MECR has been shown to be part of the mitochondrial fatty acid synthesis (FAS II) system and to catalyze the NAPDH-dependent reduction of 2-enoyl thioesters, generating saturated acyl-groups. Overexpression of this gene in transgenic mice can lead to cardiac abnormalities, suggesting that inappropriate expression of genes of FAS II can result in the development of hereditary cardiomyopathy.

Description:
This gene belongs to a group of vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) genes that, when functionally impaired, disrupt the efficient delivery of vacuolar hydrolases. The protein encoded by this gene is a component of a large multimeric complex, termed the retromer complex, which is involved in retrograde transport of proteins from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. This VPS protein may be involved in the formation of the inner shell of the retromer coat for retrograde vesicles leaving the prevacuolar compartment. Alternative splice variants encoding different isoforms, and usage of multiple polyadenylation sites have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq]
