This antibody recognizes a protein of 33-55 kDa, identified as CD53 (Workshop V; Code CD53.1). CD53 is expressed on monocytes, and macrophages, granulocytes, dendritic cells, osteoblasts and osteoclasts, NK cells, and on T- and B-cells from every stage of differentiation but is absent from platelets, erythrocytes, and non-haemopoietic cells. CD53 is a member of a family of tetraspan transmembrane proteins, including CD9, CD37, CD63, CD81, and CD82. It associates with integrins, MHC class II molecules, and a tyrosine phosphatase and plays a role in cellular activation as part of a signal transduction complex involving other membrane glycoproteins. Defects of CD53 expression on neutrophils appear to be related with recurrent infectious diseases. Cross-linking CD53 using CD53 antibodies led to cytoplasmic calcium fluxes in B cells, monocytes, and granulocytes and activation of the monocyte oxidative burst.

Recognizes a protein of 33-55kDa, identified as CD37 (Workshop V; Code CD37.7). CD37 is strongly expressed on normal and neoplastic mature (sIg+) B-lymphocytes. In B-cell ontogeny, CD37 appears after the pre-B-cell stage, is maintained during peripheral B-cell development and is lost upon terminal differentiation into plasma cells.1 CD37 is also present, at low densities, on resting and activated T cells, neutrophils, monocytes, and some myelomonocytic leukemia cells. It is absent from platelets, erythrocytes. CD37 is a member of a family of tetraspan transmembrane proteins, including CD9, CD53, CD63, CD81, and CD82. It associates other tetraspan transmembrane proteins and MHC class II molecules to form a large complex at the surface of B cells and play a role in signal transduction. Dystrophin(DMD) gene has 79 exons spanning at least 2,300 kb (2.3 Mb). This antibody recognizes a single protein of 33-34 kDa, identified as the prostate specific antigen (PSA). This MAb is highly specific to PSA and stains prostatic secretory and ductal epithelium in both normal and neoplastic tissues. PSA is a chymotrypsin-like serine protease (kallikrein family) exclusively produced by the prostate epithelium, and abundant in seminal fluid. PSA can be detected in the sera of patients with prostatic carcinoma. It is predominantly complexed to a liver-derived serine protease inhibitor, alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT). A higher proportion of serum PSA is complexed to ACT in prostate cancer than in benign prostate hyperplasia.
