Description:
ALK7 is a type I receptor for the TGFB family of signaling molecules in which type I receptors phosphorylate cytoplasmic SMAD transcription factors, which then translocate to the nucleus and interact directly with DNA or in complex with other transcription factors (1). Alk7 was expressed in all insulin, glucagon, and somatostatin -positive cells of the pancreas (2). GDF3 regulates adipose tissue homeostasis and energy balance under nutrient overload, in part, by signaling through ALK7 and Alk7 showed reduced fat accumulation and partial resistance to diet-induced obesity, similar to Gdf3. ALK7 Protein is ideal for investigators involved in Signaling Proteins, Cellular Proteins, AKT/PKB Pathway, Angiogenesis, Cancer, Cardiovascular Disease, JAK/STAT Pathway, Neurobiology, and Ser/Thr Kinase research.

Description:
Cell cycle progression is controlled in part by a family of cyclin proteins and cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdks). Cdk proteins work in concert with the cyclins to phosphorylate key substrates involved in each phase of cell cycle progression. Another family of proteins, Cdk inhibitors, also plays a role in regulating the cell cycle by binding to cyclin-Cdk complexes and modulating their activity. CDKL5 (cyclin-dependent kinase-like 5) is a 1030 amino acid protein that belongs to the CMGC Ser/Thr protein kinase family. Expressed in brain, lung, kidney, prostate, ovary, placenta, pancreas and testis, CDKL5 is thought to play a role in cell cycle regulation. Defects in CDKL5 are a cause of several disorders, such as X-linked infantile spasm syndrome and Rett syndrome.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the PP2C family of Ser/Thr protein phosphatases. PP2C family members are known to be negative regulators of cell stress response pathways. This phosphatase dephosphorylates, and negatively regulates the activities of, MAP kinases and MAP kinase kinases. It has been shown to inhibit the activation of p38 and JNK kinase cascades induced by environmental stresses. This phosphatase can also dephosphorylate cyclin-dependent kinases, and thus may be involved in cell cycle control. Overexpression of this phosphatase is reported to activate the expression of the tumor suppressor gene TP53/p53, which leads to G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Description:
Key downstream component of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway. In the absence of Wnt, forms a complex with AXIN1, AXIN2, APC, CSNK1A1 and GSK3B that promotes phosphorylation on N-terminal Ser and Thr residues and ubiquitination of CTNNB1 via BTRC and its subsequent degradation by the proteasome. In the presence of Wnt ligand, CTNNB1 is not ubiquitinated and accumulates in the nucleus, where it acts as a coactivator for transcription factors of the TCF/LEF family, leading to activate Wnt responsive genes. Involved in the regulation of cell adhesion. Acts as a negative regulator of centrosome cohesion. Involved in the CDK2/PTPN6/CTNNB1/CEACAM1 pathway of insulin internalization. Blocks anoikis of malignant kidney and intestinal epithelial cells and promotes their anchorage-independent growth by down-regulating DAPK2. Disrupts PML function and PML-NB formation by inhibiting RANBP2-mediated sumoylation of PML.

Description:
This gene encodes a protein that shares a high degree of sequence similarity with p21-activated kinase (PAK) family members. The proteins of this family are Rac/Cdc42-associated Ste20-like Ser/Thr protein kinases, characterized by a highly conserved amino-terminal Cdc42/Rac interactive binding (CRIB) domain and a carboxyl-terminal kinase domain. PAK kinases are implicated in the regulation of a number of cellular processes, including cytoskeleton rearrangement, apoptosis and the MAP kinase signaling pathway. The protein encoded by this gene was found to interact with androgen receptor (AR), which is a steroid hormone-dependent transcription factor that is important for male sexual differentiation and development. The p21-activated protein kinase 6 gene was found to be highly expressed in testis and prostate tissues and the encoded protein was shown to cotranslocate into the nucleus with AR in response to androgen.

Description:
CDK2 is a member of the Cyclin-Dependent Kinase family that is ubiquitously expressed. CDK2 is a catalytic subunit of the cyclin-dependent protein kinase complex, whose activity is restricted to the G1-S phase, and essential for cell cycle G1/S phase transition. CDK2 associates with and is regulated by the regulatory subunits of the complex including Cyclin A or E, CDK inhibitor p21Cip1 (CDKN1A) and p27Kip1 (CDKN1B) (1). CDK2 phosphorylates multiple cellular substrates including SMAD3 and FOXO1. Phosphorylation of FOXO1 leads to its inhibition (2). CDK2 Protein is ideal for investigators involved in Signaling Proteins, Cell Cycle Proteins, Cancer, Cell Cycle, and Ser/Thr Kinases research.
