Description:
ACSF1 is a 672 amino acid protein belonging to the ATP-dependent AMP-binding enzyme family. Encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 12q24.31, ACSF1 is highly expressed in kidney, heart and brain, and shows similar neural expression as HMGCR (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase). Existing as three alternatively spliced isoforms, ACSF1 participates in ATP binding, ligase activity, acetoacetate-CoA ligase activity and nucleotide binding. The ACSF1 promoter is a known PPAR?target gene, with the nuclear receptor recruited to the ACSF1 promoter by direct interaction with stimulating protein-1 (Sp1). ACSF1 activates acetoacetate and is highly regulated by modulators that affect HMGCR and cholesterol biosynthesis.

Description:
Acetoacetamide is a degradation product of acesulfame-K, sweetener. Acetoacetamide undergoes alkaline hydrolysis to form salt of acetoacetic acid.Acetoacetamide was used in a study to assess the stability of artificial sweeteners- aspartame, acesulfame-K and binary sweetener blend of aspartame x acesulfame-K during storage. Acetoacetamide was also used in analysis of multiple sweeteners and their degradation products in lassi by HPLC.

Description:
3-Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase Type 2 belongs to the short-chain dehydrogenases/reductases (SDR) family. 3-Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase Type 2 may play an important role in the peripheral utilization of 3-hydroxybutyrate. The cytoplasmic localization with its high ratio of oxidized NAD+, the NAD+ dependence and the kinetic parameters of 3-Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase Type 2 make it suitable to conbert high levels of circulating 3-hydroxybutyrate into acetoacetate.
