Description:
Selective inhibitor of COX−1. Resveratrol is a phenolic phytoalexin found in grape skin and other plants. It has intracellular antioxidant activity and activates SIRT1, a NAD+-dependent histone deacetylase involved in mitochondrial biogenesis and the enhancement of peroxisome proliferator-gamma-activated receptor coactivator-1alpha (PGC-1alpha) and FOXO activity. The anti-diabetic, neuroprotective and anti-adipogenic actions of resveratrol may be mediated via SIRT1 activation.

Description:
Slc9a9 (Sodium/hydrogen exchanger 9) or NHE9 may act in electroneutral exchange of protons for Na(+) across membranes. Four isoforms of the Na+/H+ exchanger (NHE6-NHE9) are distributed to intracellular compartments in human cells. They are localized to Golgi and post-Golgi endocytic compartments as follows: mid- to trans-Golgi, NHE8; trans-Golgi network, NHE7; early recycling endosomes, NHE6; and late recycling endosomes, NHE9. The intracellular localization of the NHEs is established by the balance of transport in and out of the post-Golgi compartments as the dynamic membrane trafficking. Their in vivo function is to regulate the pH and monovalent cation concentration in these organelles.

Description:
Interleukin 15 (IL-15) is a four-alpha helix bundle cytokine with many similar properties to IL-2, with which it shares components of its receptor. The IL-15 receptor is a heterotrimeric receptor composed of IL-15Ra, the high-affinity receptor for IL-15, as well as IL-2/15Rb (CD122) and common gamma chain (CD132). IL-15 binds to IL-15Rα receptor and can then be presented in trans to IL-2/15Rb and common gamma chain on other cells. Trans-presentation is thought to be the major mechanism by which IL-15-mediated responses occur in mice, although may not be necessary in humans (Castillo et al.). The cytoplasmic domains of IL-2/15Rb and common gamma chain mediate signaling to activate JAK/STAT and PI3K pathways. IL-15 supports the survival and proliferation of naive CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, and promotes homeostasis of memory T cells. IL-15 also promotes the survival and differentiation of NK cells and regulates their cytolytic activity (Ma et al.).

Atovaquone is a medication used to treat or prevent for pneumocystis pneumonia, toxoplasmosis, malaria, and babesia.Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control, provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards. Atovaquone belongs to the class of naphthoquinones with a broad-spectrum activity against parasitic infections including malaria, toxoplasmosis and Pneumocystis pneumonia. It is a potent antiprotozoal compound which aids in collapsing the mitochondrial membrane potential in a malaria parasite.

Description:
ECH1 is a member of the hydratase/isomerase superfamily. ECH1 shows high sequence similarity to enoyl-coenzyme A (CoA) hydratases of several species, particularly within a conserved domain characteristic of these proteins. The protein contains a C-terminal peroxisomal targeting sequence, localizes to the peroxisome. This enzyme functions in the auxiliary step of the fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway. This gene encodes a member of the hydratase/isomerase superfamily. The gene product shows high sequence similarity to enoyl-coenzyme A (CoA) hydratases of several species, particularly within a conserved domain characteristic of these proteins. The encoded protein, which contains a C-terminal peroxisomal targeting sequence, localizes to the peroxisome. The rat ortholog, which localizes to the matrix of both the peroxisome and mitochondria, can isomerize 3-trans,5-cis-dienoyl-CoA to 2-trans,4-trans-dienoyl-CoA, indicating that it is a delta3,5-delta2,4-dienoyl-CoA isomerase. This enzyme functions in the auxiliary step of the fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway. Expression of the rat gene is induced by peroxisome proliferators.

Description:
A readily soluble, specific and sensitive substrate for chymotrypsin and human pancreatic elastase. It is also hydrolyzed by cathepsin G and chymase. Furthermore it is the standard substrate for FK-506 binding proteins (FKBPs, also called macrophilins) and cyclophilins, which belong to the group of peptidyl prolyl cis-trans isomerases (PPIases). Thus, Suc-AAPF-pNA has been used for an uncoupled protease-free assay of PPIase activity.
