Protein C Inhibitor (PCI), a member of the serine protease inhibitor (serpin) superfamily, is abundant in plasma and other body fluids. Protein C Inhibitor inhibits a number of "arginine specific" serine proteases of the coagulation and fibrinolytic systems (including thrombin, trypsin, and activated Protein C), as well as plasma and tissue kallikreins and the sperm protease acrosin. This inhibition is regulated by glycosaminoglycans, such as heparin and heparan sulphate, and several polyanions. As well as its roles in the regulation of hemostasis and fertilisation, Protein C Inhibitor is involved in cell inflammation, proliferation, apoptosis, tumour cell migration, invasion, and metastasis. Recent studies have demonstrated an association between Protein C Inhibitor and multiple sclerosis lesions.

PHLPP2 Antibody: PHLPP2 is a member of the serine/threonine phosphatase family, which are important regulators of Akt serine-threonine kinases (AKT1, AKT2, AKT3) and conventional/novel protein kinase C (PKC) isoforms. PHLPP1 and PHLPP2 have a similar domain structure and have been shown to dephosphorylate and inactivate, distinct Akt isoforms, at one of the two critical phosphorylation sites required for activation: Serine473. PHLPP2 dephosphorylates AKT1 and AKT3, whereas PHLPP1 is specific for AKT2 and AKT3. PHLPP1 promotes apoptosis and may act as a tumor suppressor. PHLPP2 associates with and is inhibited by adenylyl cyclase type 6 (AC6), thereby allowing Akt activation.

Description:
The serine proteinase inhibitors (serpins) compose a superfamily of proteins with a diverse set of functions, including the control of blood coagulation, complement activation, programmed cell death and development. Serpins are secreted glycoproteins that contain a stretch of peptide that mimics a true substrate for a corresponding serine protease. SerpinB11 (serpin peptidase inhibitor, clade B (ovalbumin), member 11), also known as EPIPIN or SERPIN11, is a 392 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that belongs to the Ov-serpin subfamily and serpin family. Like other members of the serpin family, SerpinB11 has been identified as a noninhibitory intracellular protein. The gene encoding SerpinB11 maps to human chromosome 18, which houses over 300 protein-coding genes and contains nearly 76 million bases. There are a variety of diseases associated with defects in chromosome 18-localized genes, some of which include Trisomy 18 (also known as Edwards syndrome), Niemann-Pick disease, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, erythropoietic protoporphyria and follicular lymphomas.

Description:
Recombinant Human Interleukin-2 is a highly purified protein with a molecular weight of approximately 15,300 Daltons. The chemical name is des-alanyl-1, serine-125 Human Interleukin-2. It is produced by recombinant DNA technology using a genetically engineered E. coli strain containing an analog of the human interleukin-2 gene. Genetic engineering techniques were used to modify the Human IL-2 gene, and the resulting expression clone encodes a modified Human IL-2. This recombinant form differs from native Interleukin-2 in following ways: 1) it is not glycosylated; 2) the molecule has no N-terminal alanine; 3) the molecule has serine substituted for cysteine at amino acid position 125; 4) the aggregation state of molecule is likely to be different from that of native IL-2.

Description:
Transmembrane serine/threonine kinase activin type-2 receptor forming an activin receptor complex with activin type-1 serine/threonine kinase receptors (ACVR1, ACVR1B or ACVR1c). Transduces the activin signal from the cell surface to the cytoplasm and is thus regulating many physiological and pathological processes including neuronal differentiation and neuronal survival, hair follicle development and cycling, FSH production by the pituitary gland, wound healing, extracellular matrix production, immunosuppression and carcinogenesis. Activin is also thought to have a paracrine or autocrine role in follicular development in the ovary. Within the receptor complex, the type-2 receptors act as a primary activin receptors (binds activin-A/INHBA, activin-B/INHBB as well as inhibin-A/INHA-INHBA). The type-1 receptors like ACVR1B act as downstream transducers of activin signals. Activin binds to type-2 receptor at the plasma membrane and activates its serine-threonine kinase. The activated receptor type-2 then phosphorylates and activates the type-1 receptor. Once activated, the type-1 receptor binds and phosphorylates the SMAD proteins SMAD2 and SMAD3, on serine residues of the C-terminal tail. Soon after their association with the activin receptor and subsequent phosphorylation, SMAD2 and SMAD3 are released into the cytoplasm where they interact with the common partner SMAD4. This SMAD complex translocates into the nucleus where it mediates activin-induced transcription. Inhibitory SMAD7, which is recruited to ACVR1B through FKBP1A, can prevent the association of SMAD2 and SMAD3 with the activin receptor complex, thereby blocking the activin signal. Activin signal transduction is also antagonized by the binding to the receptor of inhibin-B via the IGSF1 inhibin coreceptor.

Kallikreins (KLKs) belong to the serine protease family of proteolytic enzymes having diverse physiological functions. Kallikrein 4 (KLK4), also known as prostase or EMSP1 (enamel matrix serine protease 1), contains one peptidase S1 domain and the expression in prostate is regulated by hormone (1,2). Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. KLK4 may have additional roles such as functioning as one of the two major enamel proteases identified that process enamel matrix proteins. Defects in KLK4 are the cause of amelogenesis imperfecta hypomaturation type 2A1 (AI2A1).

Description:
Aquaporin 2 (AQP2) is a hormonally regulated water channel located in the renal collecting duct. Mutations in the AQP2 gene cause hereditary nephrogenic diabetes insipidus in humans (Iolascon et al.,2007). A vasopressin induced cAMP increase results in the phosphorylation of AQP2 at serine-256 and its translocation from the intracellular vesicles to the apical membrane of principal cells (van Balkom et al., 2002). Recently, serine-261 has been identified as a novel phosphorylation site on AQP2 and levels of phosphorylated S261 have been shown to decrease with vasopressin treatment suggesting its involvement in vasopressin-dependent AQP2 trafficking (Hoffert et al., 2007).

Description:
TLK1 is a nuclear serine/threonine kinases that are potentially involved in the regulation of chromatin assembly. TLK1 is rapidly and transiently inhibited by phosphorylation following the generation of DNA double-stranded breaks during S-phase. This is cell cycle checkpoint and ATM-pathway dependent and appears to regulate processes involved in chromatin assembly. Isoform 3 phosphorylates and enhances the stability of the t-SNARE SNAP23, augmenting its assembly with syntaxin.
