Description:
SLC37A4 transports glucose-6-phosphate from the cytoplasm to the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum. It forms a complex with glucose-6-phosphatase which is responsible for glucose production through glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Hence, it plays a central role in homeostatic regulation of blood glucose levels.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene shares strong similarity with Saccharomyces cerevisiae protein Cdc27, and the gene product of Schizosaccharomyces pombe nuc 2. This protein is a component of anaphase-promoting complex (APC), which is composed of eight protein subunits and highly conserved in eucaryotic cells. APC catalyzes the formation of cyclin B-ubiquitin conjugate that is responsible for the ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis of B-type cyclins. This protein and 3 other members of the APC complex contain the TPR (tetratricopeptide repeat), a protein domain important for protein-protein interaction. This protein was shown to interact with mitotic checkpoint proteins including Mad2, p55CDC and BUBR1, and thus may be involved in controlling the timing of mitosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Description:
CD59 is a potent inhibitor of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC) action. Acts by binding to the C8 and/or C9 complements of the assembling MAC, thereby preventing incorporation of the multiple copies of C9 required for complete formation of the osmolytic pore. This inhibitor appears to be species-specific. Involved in signal transduction for T-cell activation complexed to a protein tyrosine kinase. The soluble form from urine retains its specific complement binding activity, but exhibits greatly reduced ability to inhibit MAC assembly on cell membranes. [UniProt]

Description:
Karyopherin, a cytosolic and heterodimeric protein complex consisting of alpha and beta subunits, is responsible for targeting proteins with nuclear localization signals to the nuclear pore complex by an energy requiring, Ran-dependent mechanism. The alpha subunit and imported substrate enter the nucleus and accumulate in the nucleoplasm, while the beta subunit accumulates at the NPC. KPNA1, also known as importin alpha 5, is the alpha subunit of karyopherin, which forms a complex with importin subunit beta-1 and functions in nuclear protein import as an adapter protein for nuclear receptor KPNB1. It is ubiquitously expressed and polyubiquitinated in the presence of RAG1. KPNA1 interacts with various virus nucleoproteins, including those of Ebola and influenza.

Description:
Wdr5 belongs to the family of WD repeat proteins which are involved in different cellular processes such as cell cycle progression, signal transduction, apoptosis, and gene regulation. It is a component of the Set1A and Set1B histone H3 methylation complexes. These complexes methylate lysine 4 of H3, thereby activating gene transcription. Wdr5 interacts with H3 dimethyl K4, but not with tri or mono methylated H3K4. Anti-Wdr5 Antibody is ideal for research in Cell Cycle Control, Signal Transduction, Apoptosis, Epigenetics, Gene Expression and Cancer.

Description:
NF-kappa-B is a pleiotropic transcription factor present in almost all cell types and is the endpoint of a series of signal transduction events that are initiated by a vast array of stimuli related to many biological processes such as inflammation, immunity, differentiation, cell growth, tumorigenesis and apoptosis. NF-kappa-B is a homo- or heterodimeric complex formed by the Rel-like domain-containing proteins RELA/p65, RELB, NFKB1/p105, NFKB1/p50, REL and NFKB2/p52 and the heterodimeric p65-p50 complex appears to be most abundant one. The dimers bind at kappa-B sites in the DNA of their target genes and the individual dimers have distinct preferences for different kappa-B sites that they can bind with distinguishable affinity and specificity. Different dimer combinations act as transcriptional activators or repressors, respectively. NF-kappa-B is controlled by various mechanisms of post-translational modification and subcellular compartmentalization as well as by interactions with other cofactors or corepressors. NF-kappa-B complexes are held in the cytoplasm in an inactive state complexed with members of the NF-kappa-B inhibitor (I-kappa-B) family. In a conventional activation pathway, I-kappa-B is phosphorylated by I-kappa-B kinases (IKKs) in response to different activators, subsequently degraded thus liberating the active NF-kappa-B complex which translocates to the nucleus. NF-kappa-B heterodimeric p65-p50 and RelB-p50 complexes are transcriptional activators. The NF-kappa-B p50-p50 homodimer is a transcriptional repressor, but can act as a transcriptional activator when associated with BCL3. NFKB1 appears to have dual functions such as cytoplasmic retention of attached NF-kappa-B proteins by p105 and generation of p50 by a cotranslational processing. The proteasome-mediated process ensures the production of both p50 and p105 and preserves their independent function, although processing of NFKB1/p105 also appears to occur post-translationally.

Description:
Plays a critical role in MHC class II antigen processing by stabilizing peptide-free class II alpha/beta heterodimers in a complex soon after their synthesis and directing transport of the complex from the endoplasmic reticulum to the endosomal/lysosomal system where the antigen processing and binding of antigenic peptides to MHC class II takes place. Serves as cell surface receptor for the cytokine MIF.

CtBP1 associates in complexes with histone deacetylases (HDAC), the G9a histone methyltransferase, and LSD1 histone demethylase illustrating its role in transcriptional repression. Through its association with centrosomes, CtBP1 appears to also play a role in mitosis and Golgi complex organization.

Description:
This gene encodes a transmembrane glycoprotein which mediates interaction between newly assembled major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules and the transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP), which is required for the transport of antigenic peptides across the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. This interaction is essential for optimal peptide loading on the MHC class I molecule. Up to four complexes of MHC class I and this protein may be bound to a single TAP molecule. This protein contains a C-terminal double-lysine motif (KKKAE) known to maintain membrane proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum. This gene lies within the major histocompatibility complex on chromosome 6. Alternative splicing results in three transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

Description:
The product of this gene is a member of the nuclearfactors of activated T cells DNA-binding transcription complex. This complex consists of at least two components: a preexistingcytosolic component that translocates to the nucleus upon T cellreceptor (TCR) stimulation and an inducible nuclear component.Other members of this family of nuclear factors of activated Tcells also participate in the formation of this complex. Theproduct of this gene plays a role in the inducible expression ofcytokine genes in T cells, especially in the induction of the IL-2and IL-4. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encodingdifferent isoforms have been noted for this gene.

GRPEL2 is an essential component of the PAM complex, a complex required for the translocation of transit peptide-containing proteins from the inner membrane into the mitochondrial matrix in an ATP-dependent manner. GRPEL2 seems to control the nucleotide-dependent binding of mitochondrial HSP70 to substrate proteins. GRPEL2 stimulates ATPase activity of mt-HSP70. GRPEL2 may also serve to modulate the interconversion of oligomeric (inactive) and monomeric (active) forms of mt-HSP70.
