Description:
Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are members of a large family of zinc metalloenzymes responsible for catalyzing the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. CAs show extensive diversity in their distribution and subcellular localization. They are involved in a variety of biological processes, including calcification, bone resorption, respiration, acid-base balance and the formation of aqueous humor, saliva, gastric juice and cerebrospinal fluid. CA XI, also referred to as carbonic anhydrase-related protein 11 precursor (CA-RP XI) or carbonic anhydrase-related protein 2 (CA-RP II), is a member of the carbonic anhydrase family that lacks two of the three Zn-binding motifs essential for carbonic anhydrase activity. For this reason, CA XI does not exhibit catalytic activity. It is expressed primarily in brain but is also found in spinal cord and thyroid. CA XI may play a role in brain development.Tissue specificity:Expressed abundantly in the brain with moderate expression also present in spinal cord and thyroid.

Description:
Thrombin is the final protease in the blood coagulation cascade and serves both pro- and anticoagulant functions through the cleavage of several targets. The ability of thrombin to specifically recognize a wide range of substrates derives from interactions which occur outside of the active site of thrombin. Thrombin possesses two anion binding exosites which mediate many of its interactions with cofactors and substrates, and although many structures of thrombin have been solved, few such interactions have been described in molecular detail. Glycosaminoglycan binding to exosite II of thrombin plays a major role in switching off the procoagulant functions of thrombin by mediating its irreversible inhibition by circulating serpins and by its binding to the endothelial cell surface receptor thrombomodulin.

Description:
The OKT4 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to the CD4 receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). CD4 is a 59 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein that expressed on the surface of most of the thymocytes, T-helper cells, and in low levels on monocytes and macrophages. CD4 is a co-receptor in the antigen-induced T cell activation (together with the MHC class II). The OKT4 and the RPA-T4 monoclonal antibodies recognize different epitopes of CD4 and they do not exhibit cross-block binding.

Description:
Myosins are actin-based motor proteins that function in the generation of mechanical force in eukaryotic cells. MYH8 (myosin, heavy chain 8, skeletal muscle, perinatal) is a member of the class II or conventional myosin heavy chains, and functions in skeletal muscle contraction. This gene is predominantly expressed in fetal skeletal muscle. MYH8 is regulated by phosphorylation via myosin light chain kinase (MLCK) and by intracellular Ca2+ concentrations. A mutation in this gene results in trismus-pseudocamptodactyly syndrome.

Description:
The mitochondrial oxidation of long-chain fatty acids is nitiated by the sequential action of carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (which is located in the outer membrane and is detergent-labile) and carnitine palmitoyltransferase II (which is located in the inner membrane and is detergent-stable), together with a carnitine-acylcarnitine translocase. CPT I is the key enzyme in the carnitine-dependent transport across the mitochondrial inner membrane and its deficiency results in a decreased rate of fatty acid beta-oxidation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Description:
XAB2 protein (XPA binding protein 2) was first identified through its interaction with XPA, a key factor in nucleotide excision repair pathways. XAB2 therefore appears to be involved in transcription coupled DNA repair and transcription. Immunoprecipitation experiments have also demonstrated that a fraction of XAB2 interacts with the transcription coupled repair specific proteins CSA and CSB as well as with RNA polymerase II. Microinjection experiments with XAB2 resulted in the inhibition of both transcription coupled repair and transcription.

The FR70 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to mouse CD70, a 30-33 kDA type II transmembrane protein and member of the TNF superfamily. CD70 is the ligand for CD27 and is expressed on dendritic cells, activated B cell, and a subset of activated T cells at lower levels. Its main role is in regulating B cell activation and immunoglobulin synthesis. CD70 expressing cells are able to co-stimulate T cell proliferation and upregulate cytokine production. The FR70 antibody is reported to block the binding of CD70 to CD27.

Description:
The HP-3G10 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to an 80 kDa homodimer type II membrane glycoprotein from the C-type lectin superfamily, known as the human CD161 or NKR-P1A. CD161 is expressed on most natural killer cells, subsets of CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes, gamma delta TCR T lymphocytes, a subset of CD3+ thymocytes, and especially on CD45RO+ T lymphocytes. Reports indicate that it may serve as a specific receptor for some natural killer cell targets and a possible stimulatory role.

Description:
The HIB19 monoclonal antibody reacts with a human 95 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein known as CD19, which is expressed by B lymphocytes during all the developmental stages, except for the terminally differentiated plasma cells. CD19 is also expressed on follicular dendritic cells, and seems to ensure the regulation of B lymphocytes proliferation. CD19, CD21, CD81, MHC class II, and Leu13 can bind together and form a complex which associates with the B cell receptor (BCR) on the surface of B lymphocytes and facilitates the signal transduction.
