Description:
Acyl-Coenzyme A oxidase 3 also know as pristanoyl -CoA oxidase (ACOX3)is involved in the desaturation of 2-methyl branched fatty acids in peroxisomes. Unlike the rat homolog, the human gene is expressed in very low amounts in liver such that its mRNA was undetectable by routine Northern-blot analysis or its product by immunoblotting or by enzyme activity measurements. However the human cDNA encoding a 700 amino acid protein with a peroxisomal targeting C-terminal tripeptide S-K-L was isolated and is thought to be expressed under special conditions such as specific developmental stages or in a tissue specific manner in tissues that have not yet been examined. Description:
Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal antibiotic from Streptomyces. It has an affinity for sterols, primarily ergosterols, of fungal cell membranes. It forms channels in the membranes, causing small molecules to leak out which contributes to cell death.

Description:
Sodium-dependent amino acids transporter that has a broad substrate specificity, with a preference for zwitterionic amino acids. It accepts as substrates all neutral amino acids, including glutamine, asparagine, and branched-chain and aromatic amino acids, and excludes methylated, anionic, and cationic amino acids. May also be activated by insulin. Through binding of the fusogenic protein syncytin-1/ERVW-1 may mediate trophoblasts syncytialization, the spontaneous fusion of their plasma membranes, an essential process in placental development (PubMed:10708449, PubMed:23492904). Acts as a cell surface receptor for feline endogenous virus RD114, baboon M7 endogenous virus and type D simian retroviruses (PubMed:10051606, PubMed:10196349).

Description:
Methylation at the 5'-position of cytosine is the only known naturally occurring covalent modification of the mammalian genome. DNA methylation requires the enzymatic activity of DNA 5-cytosine methyltransferase (Dnmt) proteins, which catalyze the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosyl methionine to the 5'-position of cytosines, thereby repressing expression of the target gene. Dnmt3L (DNA (cytosine-5)-methyltransferase 3-like) is a 387 amino acid protein that contains one ADD-type zinc finger and is a member of the Dnmt family. Localized to the nucleus and expressed at lows levels in thymus, testis and ovary, Dnmt3L does not exhibit DNA methyltransferase activity, but is able to stimulate de novo methylation by Dnmt3 and is thought to play a key role in the establishment of genomic imprints. Additionally, Dnmt3L interacts with histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) and, through this interaction, mediates transcriptional repression. Multiple isoforms of Dnmt3L exist due to alternative splicing events.

Description:
ESET is a nuclear protein belonging to the histone-lysine methyltransferase family and to the Suvar3-9 subfamily. It is a highly conserved protein of 150 amino acids that has been implicated in chromatin structure modulation. ESET is excluded from cell nucleoli and areas of condensed chromatin and can associate with the nonpericentromeric regions of chromatin. The gene encoding for this protein, SETDB1, maps to chromosome 1q21. ESET is a histone methyltransferase, methylating Lys-9 of histone H3 and mutations within the SETDB1 gene abolishes its methyltransferase activity. This methylation acts as a tag for epigenetic transcriptional repression by rounding up HP1 proteins to methylated histones. ESET is widely expressed with highest levels found in testis.

Tat-Glur23Y, scrambled is a control peptide. The synthetic peptide (Tat-Glur23Y), containing tyrosine residues, blocks phosphorylation of alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-isoxazole-4-propionic acid (AMPA) receptor endocytosis. However, the scrambled version does not have blockade properties. Previous studies show that Tat-Glur23Y, scrambled increase stress levels in mice, while Tat-Glur23Y reduces stress when administered.
