Description:   This protein tyrosine kinase transmembrane receptor is the receptor for colony stimulating factor 1, a cytokine which controls the production, differentiation, and function of macrophages. This receptor mediates most if not all of the biological effects of this cytokine. Ligand binding activates the receptor kinase through a process of oligomerization and transphosphorylation. The encoded protein is a member of the CSF1/PDGF receptor family of tyrosine protein kinases and contains 5 immunoglobulin like C2 type domains. CD115 is expressed by cells of the monocytic lineage and by progenitor cells. Mutations in this gene have been associated with a predisposition to myeloid malignancy.

Description:   CLN6, a 311 amino acid protein, has seven predicted transmembrane domains and is conserved across vertebrates. The CLN6 protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum but contributes to lysosomal function. Mutations in the CLN6 gene cause variant late-onset infantile neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (vLINCL), a lysosomal storage disorder marked by progressive mental deterioration and blindness; part of a group of severe inherited neurodegenerative disorders affecting children wherein lysosomes accumulate storage material, causing the death of neurons. CLN6 is one of eight proteins, including CLN1-8, that are associated with NCL.

Description:   The fibrillins are extracellular matrix glycoproteins which occur as a major component of a subset of connective tissue microfibrils. These microfibrils have a beaded appearance and a cross-sectional diameter of 10-12 nm. In elastic tissues, these structures are thought to provide the scaffold onto which elastin is assembled to form elastic fibers, although their function in non-elastic tissues is unclear. There is an aberrant expression of fibrillin in Marfan syndrome. The epitope for the monoclonal antibody 11C1.3 has been found to be within exons 18-20 (a.a. 723-909).

Description:   This gene encodes a vitamin K-dependent plasma glycoprotein. The encoded protein is cleaved to its activated form by the thrombin-thrombomodulin complex. This activated form contains a serine protease domain and functions in degradation of the activated forms of coagulation factors V and VIII. Mutations in this gene have been associated with thrombophilia due to protein C deficiency, neonatal purpura fulminans, and recurrent venous thrombosis.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009].

Description:   Annexin V is an anticoagulant protein that acts as an indirect inhibitor of the thromboplastin-specific complex, which is involved in the blood coagulation cascade. Annexin V competes for phosphatidylserine binding sites (e.g. platelets) with prothrombin or coagulation factors and inhibis the activity of phospholipase A1. Antibodies directed against annexin V are found in patients with a disease called the antiphospholipid syndrome(APS), a thrombophilic disease associated with autoantibodies against phospholipid compounds. Annexin V is used as a probe in the "annexin V affinity assay" to detect cells that have expressed phosphatidylserine on the cell surface, a feature found in apoptosis and other forms of cell death.

Description:   Chicken CD28 antigen is a type I transmembrane monomeric glycoprotein which does not contain the cysteine residues that form disulfide-linked covalent homodimers found in the mammalian counterpart. This may reduce the avidity of binding to individual ligand molecules expected to be present on antigen presenting cells. Peripheral γδ+ T cells are CD28 negative. Monoclonal antibodies against CD28 have a costimulatory effect on T cells stimulated by phorbol myristate acetate (PMA), concanavalin A, or monoclonal antibodies against the avian T cell receptor (TCR). Both Vβ1- and Vβ2-expressing cells respond equally well to stimulation with anti-CD28 in combination with PMA. These responses are resistant to cyclosporin A but inhibited by herbimycin A suggesting that CD28 employs a signaling pathway at least partly distinct from that triggered by TCR/CD3. The monoclonal antibody AV7 also reacts with turkey CD28 as demonstrated by flow cytometry.

Description:   HP1 alpha is a component of heterochromatin. It recognizes and binds histone H3 tails methylated at Lys-9, leading to epigenetic repression. HP1 alpha may interact with lamin B receptor (LBR). This interaction can contribute to the association of the heterochromatin with the inner nuclear membrane. HP1 proteins are relatively small proteins (~25 kDa) with a conserved amino-terminal chromo domain and a structurally related carboxy-terminal motif, the chromo shadow domain. Both domains of HP1 are required for binding to native chromatin in vivo, but they contribute differentially to binding in euchromatin and heterochromatin.

Description:   Whole IgG antibodies are isolated as intact molecules from antisera by immunoaffinity chromatography. They have an Fc portion and two antigen binding Fab portions joined together by disulfide bonds and therefore they are divalent. The average molecular weight is reported to be about 160 kDa. The whole IgG form of antibodies is suitable for the majority of immunodetection procedures and is the most cost effective. Based on immunoelectrophoresis and/or ELISA, the antibody reacts with whole molecule goat IgG. It also reacts with the light chains of other goat immunoglobulins. No antibody was detected against non-immunoglobulin serum proteins. The antibody has been tested by ELISA and/or solid-phase adsorbed to ensure minimal cross-reaction with bovine, chicken, guinea pig, syrian hamster, horse, human, mouse, rabbit and rat serum proteins, but it may cross-react with immunoglobulins from other species.

Description:   Dectin 2 is a type II transmembrane protein that is a member of the C type lectin superfamily. In mouse, dectin 2 is predominantly expressed on tissue macrophages and some dendritic cells. Significant expression of Dectin 2 has been reported on macrophages in the red pulp and marginal zones of the spleen, kupffer cells in the liver and alveolar macrophages in the lung. Peripheral blood monocytes express low levels of dectin 2 but transient up regulation of expression has been demonstrated on monocytes at sites of inflammation. The function of dectin 2 has not been fully determined but studies suggest a possible role in immune surveillance.

Description:   FGF6 is a secreted heparin binding growth factor that is a member of the FGF family. Proteins of this family play a central role during prenatal development and postnatal growth and regeneration of a variety of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF6 is expressed in leukemia cell lines with platelet megakaryocytic differentiation potential. It signals through FGFR 1c, 2c, and 4. The FGF6 gene displays oncogenic transforming activity when transfected into mammalian cells. The mouse homolog of this gene exhibits a restricted expression profile predominantly in the myogenic lineage, which suggested a role in muscle regeneration or differentiation.

Description:   Histones are basic nuclear proteins that are responsible for the nucleosome structure of the chromosomal fiber in eukaryotes. Nucleosomes consist of approximately 146 bp of DNA wrapped around a histone octamer composed of pairs of each of the four core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4). The chromatin fiber is further compacted through the interaction of a linker histone, H1, with the DNA between the nucleosomes to form higher order chromatin structures. This gene is intronless and encodes a member of the histone H2B family. Transcripts from this gene lack polyA tails; instead, they contain a palindromic termination element. This gene is found in the large histone gene cluster on chromosome 6p22-p21.3. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].
