Description:
The Fos gene family consists of 4 members: FOS, FOSB, FOSL1, and FOSL2. These genes encode leucine zipper proteins that can dimerize with proteins of the JUN family, thereby forming the transcription factor complex AP-1. As such, the FOS proteins have been implicated as regulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, and transformation. [provided by RefSeq].

Description:
BATF is a nuclear basic leucine zipper protein that belongs to the AP-1/ATF superfamily of transcription factors. The leucine zipper of this protein mediates dimerization with members of the Jun family of proteins. This protein is thought to be a negative regulator of AP-1/ATF transcriptional events. Description:
Eukaryotic gene transcription is regulated by sequence-specific transcription factors that bind modular cis acting promoter and enhancer elements. The ATF/CREB transcription factor family binds the palindromic cAMP response element (CRE) octanucleotide TGACGTCA. The best characterized members of this gene family include CREB-1, CREB-2 (also designated ATF-4), CRE-BPa, LZIP (also designated CREB3 and Luman), CREM-1, CREM-2, ATF-1, ATF-2, ATF-3, ATF-5, ATF-6 and ATF-7. This family of proteins contain highly divergent N-terminal domains, but share a C-terminal leucine zipper for dimerization and DNA binding. ATF-5 (ATFx), which can localize to the cytoplasm or the nucleus, binds DNA as a dimer. It interacts with CCND3 and PTP4A1.

Description:
CD127 (IL-7Ra) is the specific receptor component for the cytokine interleukin -7 (IL-7). It is found on a wide variety of hematopoietic cell types including B cell precursors and the majority of T cells. Its expression levels are decreased on T cells following activation. CD127 can dimerize with CD132 (IL-2Rgamma) to form a high affinity IL-7 receptor. CD127 engagement is necessary for T cell development in humans.

Description:
This is a heptapeptide from the N-terminal prion-determining domain of the yeast protein Sup35 that forms amyloid fibrils. The availability of its detailed atomic oligomeric structure makes it a good model for studying the early stage of aggregation. The GNNQQNY dimer forms three stable sheet structures. in-register parallel, off-register parallel, and anti-parallel. The in-register parallel dimer, which is close to the amyloid beta-sheet structure, has few interpeptide hydrogen bonds, making hydrophobic interactions more important and increasing the conformational entropy compared to the anti-parallel sheet.

Description:
Bok (Bcl-2-related ovarian killer) is a pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family protein identified in the ovary based on its dimerization with the anti-apoptotic protein Mcl-1. In addition to the Bcl-2 homology (BH) domains 1 and 2 and the transmembrane sequence, Bok also has a BH3 domain believed to be important for dimerization with selective anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 proteins and cell killing. Bok interacts strongly with some (Mcl-1, BHRF1, and Bfl-1) but not other (Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, and Bcl-w) anti-apoptotic members. In addition, cell killing induced by Bok was suppressed following co-expression with Mcl-1 and BHRF1, but not with Bcl-2, further indicating that Bok heterodimerized only with selective anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 proteins. Bok was highly expressed in the ovary, testis and uterus.

Description:
PDGFs are disulfide-linked dimers consisting of two 12.0-13.5 kDa polypeptide chains, designated PDGF-A and PDGF-B chains. The three naturally occurring PDGFs; PDGF-AA, PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB, are potent mitogens for a variety of cell types including smooth muscle cells, connective tissue cells, bone and cartilage cells, and some blood cells. The PDGFs are stored in platelet α-granules and are released upon platelet activation. The PDGFs are involved in a number of biological processes, including hyperplasia, chemotaxis, embryonic neuron development, and respiratory tubule epithelial cell development. Two distinct signaling receptors used by PDGFs have been identified and named PDGFR-α and PDGFR-B. PDGFR-a is high-affinity receptor for each of the three PDGF forms. On the other hand, PDGFR-B interacts with only PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB. Recombinant human PDGF-AB is a 25.5 kDa disulfide-linked dimer, consisting of one A chain and one B chains (234 total amino acids).
