Description:   Essential PPIase that regulates mitosis presumably by interacting with NIMA and attenuating its mitosis-promoting activity. Displays a preference for an acidic residue N-terminal to the isomerized proline bond. Catalyzes pSer/Thr-Pro cis/trans isomerizations. Down-regulates kinase activity of BTK. Description:   Retinoids are metabolites of vitamin A (retinal) and are believed to represent important signaling molecules during vertebrate development and tissue differentiation. Two families of retinoid receptors have been identified. Retinoic acid receptors (RARs) include RAR alpha, RAR beta and RAR gamma, each of which has a high affinity for all trans retinoic acids and belongs to the same class of nuclear transcription factors as thyroid hormone receptors, vitamin D3 receptor and ecdysone receptor. The ligand binding domains of the RARs are highly conserved and RAR isoforms are expressed in distinct patterns through out development and in the mature organism. Members of the retinoid X receptor (RXR) family, RXR alpha, RXR beta and RXR gamma, are activated by 9 cis retinoic acid, a stereo and photoisomer of all trans RA that is expressed in vivo in both liver and kidney and may represent a widely used hormone.

Description:   HSP56 is a cis-trans prolyl isomerase belonging to the immunophilin protein family. The human HSP 56 gene (FKBP4) has multiple polyadenylation sites and the HSP 56 protein can undergo phosphorylation. HSP 56 influences immunoregulatory gene expression in lymphocytes, protein folding and trafficking. It can serve as a co-chaperone for steroid hormone nuclear receptors to govern appropriate hormone action in target tissues. The protein can associate with phytanoyl-CoA alpha-hydroxylase (PHYH) and with HSP90 through a series of tetratricopeptide repeat (TPR) domains. HSP 56 is a TRPC ion channel accessory protein that modulates channel activation following receptor stimulation.

Description:   FKBP25 is a member of the immunophilin protein family. The immunophilins are a highly conserved family of cis-trans peptidyl-prolyl isomerases that bind to and mediate the effects of immunosuppressive drugs, such as cyclosporin, FK506 and rapamycin. They inhibit T-cell proliferation by interrupting two specific cytoplasmic signal transmission pathways. FKBP25 is localized in the nucleus and is expressed in the brain, testis, ovary, and spleen. It may influence immunoregulation and cerebellum development, as well as protein folding and trafficking in neurons. FKBP25 associates with transcriptional repressor protein YY1 and histone deaceltylases, HDAC1 and HDAC2. FKBP25 may contain several casein kinase II phosphorylation sites, which are believed to be important for cell growth regulation.

Description:   Apolipoprotein M is a secreted protein which belongs to the Lipocalin family. ApoM often presents in high density lipoprotein (HDL) and to a lesser extent in triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TGRLP) and low density lipoproteins (LDL). The ApoM gene encoded protein is expressed in liver and kidney, secreted through the plasma membrane but remains membrane-bound. ApoM probably involved in lipid transport. ApoM can bind sphingosine-1-phosphate, myristic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid, retinol, all-trans-retinoic acid and 9-cis-retinoic acid. The expression of ApoM could be regulated by platelet activating factor (PAF), Transforming Growth Factors (TGF), Insulin-Like Growth factor (IGF) and Leptin.

Description:   ECH1 is a member of the hydratase/isomerase superfamily. ECH1 shows high sequence similarity to enoyl-coenzyme A (CoA) hydratases of several species, particularly within a conserved domain characteristic of these proteins. The protein contains a C-terminal peroxisomal targeting sequence, localizes to the peroxisome. This enzyme functions in the auxiliary step of the fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway. This gene encodes a member of the hydratase/isomerase superfamily. The gene product shows high sequence similarity to enoyl-coenzyme A (CoA) hydratases of several species, particularly within a conserved domain characteristic of these proteins. The encoded protein, which contains a C-terminal peroxisomal targeting sequence, localizes to the peroxisome. The rat ortholog, which localizes to the matrix of both the peroxisome and mitochondria, can isomerize 3-trans,5-cis-dienoyl-CoA to 2-trans,4-trans-dienoyl-CoA, indicating that it is a delta3,5-delta2,4-dienoyl-CoA isomerase. This enzyme functions in the auxiliary step of the fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway. Expression of the rat gene is induced by peroxisome proliferators.
