Description:
Corticotropin (ACTH), synthesized by the anterior pituitary gland, stimulates the adrenal cortex. Human ACTH has a molecular weight of 4,541 and contains 39 amino acids . It has structural similarities to melanotropin (melanocyte-stimulating hormone; MSH). Human beta-melanotropin has 22 amino acid residues and a molecular weight of 2,661. Work on the structure of the ACTH gene by restriction enzyme techniques showed that 6 hormones are derived from one gene: ACTH, lipotropin, alpha-MSH, beta-MSH, endorphin, and one other. Thus, extensive amino acid differences between these hormones were not adequate evidence for their being distinct. ACTH and beta-lipotropin (beta-LPH) are derived from a large precursor peptide. Each of these hormones is known to include smaller peptides having distinct biologic activities: alpha-melanotropin (alpha-MSH) and corticotropin-like intermediate lobe peptide (CLIP) are formed from ACTH; gamma-LPH and beta-endorphin are peptide components of beta-LPH. Beta-MSH is contained within gamma-LPH. The precursor peptide was called proopiomelanocortin (POMC).

Description:
ILVBL is a 632 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that belongs to the TPP enzyme family. Expressed in the majority of tissues, ILVBL has the highest level of expression in heart, pancreas and placenta. ILVBL is highly homologous to several bacterial enzymes, including the B isozyme of the large catalytic subunit of E. coli acetohydroxy-acid synthase (AHAS) and the oxalyl-coA decarboxylase of O. formigenes, that utilize thiamine pyrophosphate as a cofactor. ILVBL binds one magnesium ion and one thiamine pyrophosphate per subunit, and may catalyze the initial step in branched-chain amino acid biosynthesis. The gene encoding ILVBL maps to human chromosome 19p13.12 and mouse chromosome 10 C1.

Description:
This amine-reactive reagent can be used to create blue-fluorescent bioconjugates with excitation/emission maxima ~410/455 nm that are excitable by the 405 nm spectral line of the blue diode (violet) laser. Used in highly sensitive analyses of amines, amino acids and dipeptides. Amine-reactive reagents react with non-protonated aliphatic amine groups, including the amine terminus of proteins and the Ñ”-amino group of lysines.

Description:
Tyrosinase is the key enzyme for melanin, synthesis in mammalian melanocytes and has been considered to be a unique marker for the study of melanocyte differentiation. A cDNA library was constructed from poly(A)+ mRNA from mouse melanocytes and screened using anti- tyrosinase antiserum and oligonucleotide probes corresponding to amino acid sequence of tyrosinase. sequencing of some cDNA clones positive in these screenings gave a nucleotide sequence of 1838 nucleotides including a open reading frame of 1344 nucleotides that was found to correspond exactly to the amino acid sequence of the cyanogen bromide fragments of tyrosinase.

Description:
ENA-78 is a CXC chemokine that signals through the CXCR2 receptor. It is expressed in monocytes, platelets, endothelial cells, and mast cells. ENA-78 is a chemoattractant for neutrophils. The murine homolog of ENA-78 is called LIX. The three naturally occurring variants of human ENA-78; ENA 5-78, ENA 9-78 and ENA 10-78, contain 74, 70, and 69 amino acid residues, respectively, and possess the same biological activity. ENA-78 contains the four conserved cysteine residues present in CXC chemokines, and also contains the 'ELR' motif common to CXC chemokine that bind to the CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors. Recombinant human ENA-78 is an 8.0 kDa protein consisting of 74 amino acid residues.

Description:
RELMα belongs to a unique family of tissue-specific cytokines termed FIZZ (found in inflammatory zone) and RELM. The other three known members of this family; Resistin, RELMα, and RELMβ, are 85-94 amino acid secreted proteins sharing a conserved C-terminal domain characterized by 10 cysteine residues with a unique spacing motif of C-X11-C-X8-C-X-C-X3-C-X10-C-X-C-X-C-X9-C-C. RELMγ is most closely related to RELMα, but is distinctly secreted to bone marrow, spleen, lung, and in peripheral blood granulocytes. The physiological role of RELMγ may include the promotion or regulation of promyelocytic differentiation, although the specific molecular targets of RELMγ have not been identified. Recombinant murine RELMγ is a 9.2 kDa monomeric protein containing 88 amino acid residues.

Description:
FGF-acidic is one of 23 known members of the FGF family. Proteins of this family play a central role during prenatal development, postnatal growth and regeneration of a variety of tissues, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF-acidic is a non-glycosylated heparin binding growth factor that is expressed in the brain, kidney, retina, smooth muscle cells, bone matrix, osteoblasts, astrocytes and endothelial cells. FGF-acidic has the ability to signal through all the FGF receptors. Recombinant Murine FGF-acidic is a 15.9 kDa protein consisting of 141 amino acid residues.

Description:
CD6 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that contains a 24-amino acid signal sequence, three extracellular scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) domains, a membrane-spanning domain and a 44-amino acid cytoplasmic domain. The CD6 glycoprotein is tyrosine phosphorylated during TCR-mediated T cell activation. CD6 shows significant homology to CD5. CD6 is present on mature thymocytes, peripheral T cells and a subset of B cells. Antibodies to CD6 are used to deplete T cells from bone marrow transplants to prevent graft versus host disease.
