Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc binding domains, a RING, a B box type 1 and a B box type 2, and a coiled coil region. The protein localizes to the cytoplasm. The presence of potential DNA binding and dimerization transactivation domains suggests that this protein may act as a transcription factor, similar to several other members of the TRIM family. Expression of the gene is upregulated in response to estrogen, and it is thought to mediate estrogen actions in breast cancer as a primary response gene.

Description:
ZNF148 is a zinc finger transcription factor that is universally expressed. ZBP-89, a Kruppel-like repressor protein, is the silencer element binding factor for Vimentin. ZBP-89 has been shown to bind to GC-rich DNA elements in promoters for gastrin, ornithine decarboxylase and the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p21 (also designated Cip1 or WAF1). ZBP-89 expression is induced by trans-retinoic acid or butyrate, which also induces terminal differentiation of colon cancer cells. ZBP-89 cooperates with histone acetyltransferase coactivator p300 in the regulation of p21, a cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor whose associated gene is a target gene of p53. ZBP-89 also regulates cell proliferation, in part, through its ability to directly bind the p53 protein and retard its nuclear export. Elevated levels of ZBP-89 induce growth arrest and apoptosis in human gastrointestinal cells.

Description:
THAP1 contains a THAP domain, a zinc-dependent DNA-binding domain. It colocalizes with the apoptosis response protein PAWR/PAR-4 in promyelocytic leukemia (PML) nuclear bodies and is a pro-apoptopic protein that potentiates both serum-withdrawal and TNF-induced apoptosis. It is a physiologic regulator of endothelial cell proliferation and cell-cycle progression, two essential processes for angiogenesis.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc binding domains, a RING, a B box type 1 and a B box type 2, and a coiled coil region. The protein localizes to cytoplasmic bodies. Its function has not been identified. Alternative splicing of this gene generates three transcript variants, named alpha, beta and gamma.

Description:
This gene encodes a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. This gene is located on chromosome 13 within the minimal deletion region for B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.

EGR3 is a member of the early growth response transcription factor family of C2H2 zinc finger proteins (other members EGR1, EGR2 and EGR4). EGR proteins are immediate early proteins, expression of which is swiftly upregulated in response to a wide range of extracellular stimuli. EGR3 is also thought to be involved in development of muscle spindles, and is upregulated in several regions of the brain in response to stress or injury.

Description:
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of endoproteases that require zinc and calcium for expressing catalytic activity. These enzymes play a central role in the maintenance and remodeling of the extracellular matrix. Elevated expression of their activity, caused either by up-regulation of their expression or down-regulation of their cognate inhibitors, has been implicated in various degenerative disorders, including arthritis, cardiovascular disease, skeletal growth-plate disorders, and cancer metastasis. MMP-2 is a secreted collagenase with specificity toward Type IV, V, VII, and X collagens. Recombinant human MMP-2 is a 62.0 kDa protein containing the entire catalytic N-terminal domain and the C-terminal domain (552 amino acids).

The function of BTB/POZ domain containing protein 6 is not known. The BTB/POZ domain is an evolutionarily conserved protein-protein interaction domain often found in developmentally regulated transcription factors. Many additional conserved motifs have been found in association with BTB/POZ domain, including kelch repeats, zinc finger domains, FYVE fingers and ankyrin repeats. BTB/POZ domain containing protein 6 may be involved in neuronal development and muscle formation.

IA-6 Antibody: IA-6, also known as insulinoma-associated 2 or INSM2, is related to IA-1 (INSM1), a zinc-finger factor that is expressed in the developing nervous system. While the exact function of IA-6 is not known, other related insulinoma-associated proteins such as IA-2 are major autoantigens in type 1 diabetes. The homology exhibited by IA-6 to IA-1 has led to speculation that IA-6 may also play a role in the regulation of gene transcription.

Description:
Zinc metalloprotease that specifically cleaves 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitin chains. Does not cleave 'Lys-48'-linked polyubiquitin chains (By similarity). Functions at the endosome and is able to oppose the ubiquitin-dependent sorting of receptors to lysosomes. Plays a role in signal transduction for cell growth and MYC induction mediated by IL-2 and GM-CSF. Potentiates BMP (bone morphogenetic protein) signaling by antagonizing the inhibitory action of SMAD6 and SMAD7.

Description:
The activity dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) gene is frequently amplified in many neoplasias, including breast, bladder, ovarian, pancreatic, and colon cancers. ADNP mRNA is abundantly expressed in distinct normal tissues, and high expression levels were encountered in malignant cells. ADNP is implicated in maintaining cell survival, perhaps through modulation of p53. The encoded protein contains one homeobox and nine zinc finger domains, suggesting that it functions as a transcription factor.

Description:
IA-1, also known as INSM1, is an essential five zinc-finger transcription factor that while initially identified from an insulinoma cDNA library, is expressed in the developing nervous system. Specifically, IA-1 is expressed as early as E9.5 in mice in the fore-, mid- and hindbrain, spinal cord, retina, and olfactory bulb. It is thought that IA-1 functions as a transcriptional repressor, and is a part of several signaling pathways including those of Notch and sonic hedgehog in addition to that of Ngn3 during pancreatic endocrine cell differentiation. IA-1 is also expressed in multiple tumors, including the majority of neuroendocrine tumors tested so far as well as nearly 100% of all small cell lung carcinomas, indicating that IA-1 may be an important target in cancer therapy.
