Description:   Wilms tumor is associated with mutations of WT1, a zinc-finger transcription factor that is essential for the development of the metanephric kidney and the urogenital system. The gene is normally expressed in fetal kidney and mesothelium, and its expression has been suggested as a marker for Wilms tumor and mesothelioma. WT1 protein has been identified in proliferative mesothelial cells, malignant mesothelioma, ovarian carcinoma, gonadoblastoma, nephroblastoma, and desmoplastic small round cell tumor. Lung adenocarcinomas rarely stain positive with this antibody. WT1 protein expression in mesothelial cells has become a reliable marker for the diagnosis of mesotheliomas.

Description:   Calcyclin, also known as Protein S100-A6, growth factor-inducible protein 2A9, S-100 calcium-binding protein A6 (S-100A6) or MLN 4, is a homodimeric member of the S-100 calcium-binding protein family whose expression is upregulated in proliferating and differentiating cells. Calcyclin is inducible by growth factors and overexpressed in acute myeloid leukemias. It is expressed in a cell-specific manner in subpopulations of neurons and astrocytes and in epithelial cells and fibroblasts. Calcyclin is a specific target of S-100B protein in vivo. The binding of Calcyclin to S-100B is stabilized by S-100B-bound calcium and zinc. Calcyclin associates with both Annexin XI and CacyBP (calcyclin-binding protein). It functions to activate several processes along the calcium signal transduction pathway including the regulation of cell growth, proliferation, secretion and exocytosis.

Description:   POLK belongs to the DNA polymerase type-Y family. It contains 2 Rad18-type zinc fingers and 1 umuC domain. POLK is a DNA polymerase specifically involved in DNA repair. It plays an important role in translesion synthesis, where the normal high-fidelity DNA polymerases cannot proceed and DNA synthesis stalls. Depending on the context, it inserts the correct base, but causes frequent base transitions, transversions and frameshifts. It lacks 3'-5' proofreading exonuclease activity. POLK forms a Schiff base with 5'-deoxyribose phosphate at abasic sites, but does not have lyase activity.

Description:   ZBTB6 Antibody: The ZBTB family of proteins is comprised of diverse zinc finger proteins that also contain a BTB (BR-C, ttk and bab) domain. ZBTB6, also known as ZNF482, is highly expressed in brain. While little is known about ZBTB6, other ZBTB proteins, such as ZBTB4 bind methylated DNA and repress transcription. Another ZBTB family member, ZBTB5, also acts as a transcriptional repressor, and can interact with co-repressor histone deacetylase complexes such as BCoR, NCoR, and SMRT via its POZ domain, suggesting that ZBTB6 may also act as a transcriptional repressor.

Description:   In eukaryotes, it is essential to have the ability to detect and degrade transcripts that lack full coding potential. Nonsense-mediated RNA decay (NMD) protects the organism by avoiding the translation of truncated peptides with dominant negative or deleterious gain-of-function potential. Rent1, a mammalian ortholog of Upflp, is essential for embryonic viability (1–3). Rent1 (also designated regulator of nonsense transcripts and HUpf1) contains an N-terminal zinc finger-like domain, NTPase domains and a region comprised of domains that define Rent1 as a superfamily group I helicase.

Description:   The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc binding domains, a RING, a B box type 1 and a B box type 2, and a coiled coil region. The protein localizes to the cytoplasm. The presence of potential DNA binding and dimerization transactivation domains suggests that this protein may act as a transcription factor, similar to several other members of the TRIM family. Expression of the gene is upregulated in response to estrogen, and it is thought to mediate estrogen actions in breast cancer as a primary response gene.

Description:   Matrin 3 (MATR 3) is an internal nuclear matrix protein that may play a role in transcription or may interact with other nuclear matrix proteins to form the internal fibrogranular network. In association with the SFPQ-NONO heteromer MATR 3 may play a role in nuclear retention of defective RNAs. MATR3 forms part of complex consisting of SFPQ, NONO and MATR3.The protein contains 1 matrin type zinc finger and 2 RRM (RNA recognition motif) domains. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene.
