TCEB1 is known as protein elongin C, which is a subunit of the transcription factor B (SIII) complex. The SIII complex is composed of elongins A/A2, B and C. It activates elongation by RNA polymerase II by suppressing transient pausing of the polymerase at many sites within transcription units. Elongin A functions as the transcriptionally active component of the SIII complex, whereas elongins B and C are regulatory subunits. Elongin A2 is specifically expressed in the testis, and capable of forming a stable complex with elongins B and C. The von Hippel-Lindau tumor suppressor protein binds to elongins B and C, and thereby inhibits transcription elongation. Western blots using two different antibodies (P100962-T200 and P100963_P050 / P100963_P100) against two unique regions of this protein target confirm the same apparent molecular weight in our tests.

Unrip is part of the SMN complex that plays a role in snRNP assembly in the cytoplasm and pre mRNA splicing in the nucleus. Unrip interacts directly with Gemin 6 and Gemin 7 in the SMN complex. It is associated with the complex in the cytoplasm but not in the nucleus and thus is thought to play a role in it's subcellular localisation.It is a ubiquitously expressed protein that acts as an inhibitor of TGF-beta signaling and an important regulator of cell proliferation. Stable expression of STRAP results in activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase/extracellular signal-regulated kinase pathway and in down-regulation of the cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor p21 (Cip1), which results in retinoblastoma protein hyperphosphorylation. Upregulation of STRAP might play a role in tumor development as an early event for colorectal cancers. It is the first component of the U snRNP assembly machinery that associates with SMN complex in a compartment-specific way and plays a crucial role in the intracellular distribution of SMN1.

In mammalian cells, transcription is regulated in part by high molecular weight coactivating complexes that mediate signals between transcriptional activators and RNA polymerase (1). These complexes include CRSP (for cofactor required for Sp1 activation), which is required, in conjunction with TAFIIs, for transcriptional activation by Sp1 (2). CRSP is ubiquitously expressed in various tissues and functions as a multimeric complex that consists of nine distinct subunits (3). Several members of the CRSP family share sequence similarity with multiple components of the yeast transcriptional mediator proteins, including CRSP150, which is related to yeast Rgr1, and CRSP70, which is similar to the elongation factor TFIIS (4). EF-1 gamma (elongation factor 1-gamma), also known as EEF1G or GIG35, is a 437 amino acid subunit of the EF-1 complex. Expressed in stomach, pancreas, brain, lung, kidney, intestine, liver and spleen, EF-1 gamma contains an N-terminal glutathione transferase domain which is thought to be involved in anchoring the complex to various cellular components. Additionally, EF-1 gamma may play a key role in the assembly of multiprotein complexes containing aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases.
