Description:   WD40 repeats are a common structural module in eukaryotic proteins, and proteins containing WD40 domains have a wide range of functions, including signal transduction, cell cycle regulation, RNA splicing, and transcription. One such protein, WDR92, also known as monad, contains two WD40 repeats is widely expressed in human tissues, especially testis. Overexpression of this protein or its binding partner RNA polymerase II-associated protein 3 (RPAP3) potentiated apoptosis and caspase-3 activation induced by TNF-a and cycloheximide, suggesting that WDR92, together with RPAP3, may function as a novel modulator of apoptosis.

Description:   Lano Antibody: Lano is a member of the LAP (leucine-rich repeats and PDZ) family of proteins that also includes Densin-180, Erbin, and hScribble. The LAP proteins generally contain multiple leucine-rich repeat (LRR) domains which serve to target them to the basolateral membrane of epithelial cells. Lano is unique in that it alone does not possess one or more PDZ (PSD95/DLG/ZO-1) domains as do the other members of the LAP family. However, it can bind to the PDZ domain of Erbin in addition to those of membrane-associated and guanylate kinase (MAGUK) proteins which regulate adhesion and plasticity at cell junctions. Description:   OMI Antibody: Inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs) were initially identified in baculoviruses as proteins that inhibit apoptosis of the host cells to allow time for viral replication. Proteins that comprise the Bcl-2 family appear to control the activation of these enzymes. One such member is multi-domain antiapoptotic protein Bfl-1, which is overexpressed in stomach and other cancers. Description:   MCG10 Antibody: MCG10 is a member of the KH-domain RNA-binding protein family. Proteins of this family also referred to as alpha-CPs, bind to RNA with specificity for C-rich pyrimidine regions. Alpha-CPs play important roles in post-transcriptional activities and have different cellular distributions. MCG10 is induced by p53 and DNA damage via two p53-responsive promoter elements. Description:   SIP1 Antibody: SIP1 is one of the proteins found in the SMN complex, which consists of the survival of motor neuron (SMN) protein and several gemin proteins. The SMN complex is localized to a subnuclear compartment called gems (gemini of coiled bodies) and is required for assembly of spliceosomal snRNPs and for pre-mRNA splicing. SIP1 interacts directly with the SMN and it is required for formation of the SMN complex. A knockout mouse targeting the mouse homolog of this gene exhibited disrupted snRNP assembly and motor neuron degeneration. However, knockdown of the SIP1 mRNA in motor neurons showed normal motor axons while that of SMN mRNA did show abnormal motor axon outgrowth, indicating that SIP1 may have additional roles outside of the SMN complex.

Description:   Keratins are a family of intermediate filament proteins that assemble into filaments through forming heterodimers of one type I keratin (keratins 9 to 23) and one type II keratin (keratins 1 to 8). Keratins demonstrate tissue and differentiation specific expression profiles. Keratin 15 is a type I keratin which is expressed only in basal keratinocytes in stratified epithelia and does not appear to have a natural type II expression partner. Keratin 15 is down regulated in activated keratinocytes. Cytokeratin 15 is a specific marker of stem cells of the hair-follicle bulge and may be a useful marker for diagnosis between basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and trichoepithelioma. Trichoblastoma are benign neoplasms of follicular differentiation frequently found in nevus sebaceous. Many morphologic features are shared with nodular basal cell carcinoma, sometimes rendering a diagnosis difficult. Trichoblastoma and BCC show variable expression of Cytokeratin 15 and Cytokeratin 19, and absence of hair keratins.

Description:   The gene for CDK2NA generates several transcripts/proteins which differ from each other in their first exons.
