Description:
The OKT4 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to the CD4 receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). CD4 is a 59 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein that expressed on the surface of most of the thymocytes, T-helper cells, and in low levels on monocytes and macrophages. CD4 is a co-receptor in the antigen-induced T cell activation (together with the MHC class II). The OKT4 and the RPA-T4 monoclonal antibodies recognize different epitopes of CD4 and they do not exhibit cross-block binding.

Description:
XBP1 is a transcription factor that regulates MHC class II genes by binding to a promoter element referred to as an X box. XBP1 is a bZIP protein, which was also identified as a cellular transcription factor that binds to an enhancer in the promoter of the T cell leukemia virus type 1 promoter. It may increase expression of viral proteins by acting as the DNA binding partner of a viral transactivator. This gene encodes a transcription factor that regulates MHC class II genes by binding to a promoter element referred to as an X box. This gene product is a bZIP protein, which was also identified as a cellular transcription factor that binds to an enhancer in the promoter of the T cell leukemia virus type 1 promoter. It may increase expression of viral proteins by acting as the DNA binding partner of a viral transactivator. It has been found that upon accumulation of unfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), the mRNA of this gene is processed to an active form by an unconventional splicing mechanism that is mediated by the endonuclease inositol-requiring enzyme 1 (IRE1). The resulting loss of 26 nt from the spliced mRNA causes a frame-shift and an isoform XBP1 (S), which is the functionally active transcription factor. The isoform encoded by the unspliced mRNA, XBP1 (U), is constitutively expressed, and thought to function as a negative feedback regulator of XBP1 (S), which shuts off transcription of target genes during the recovery phase of ER stress. A pseudogene of XBP1 has been identified and localized to chromosome 5.

Description:
This gene encodes a member of the tyrosine kinase and, more specifically, the Janus kinases (JAKs) protein families. This protein associates with the cytoplasmic domain of type I and type II cytokine receptors and promulgate cytokine signals by phosphorylating receptor subunits. It is also component of both the type I and type III interferon signaling pathways. As such, it may play a role in anti-viral immunity. A mutation in this gene has been associated with hyperimmunoglobulin E syndrome (HIES) - a primary immunodeficiency characterized by elevated serum immunoglobulin E. [provided by RefSeq].

Description:
The HP-3G10 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to an 80 kDa homodimer type II membrane glycoprotein from the C-type lectin superfamily, known as the human CD161 or NKR-P1A. CD161 is expressed on most natural killer cells, subsets of CD4+ and CD8+ T lymphocytes, gamma delta TCR T lymphocytes, a subset of CD3+ thymocytes, and especially on CD45RO+ T lymphocytes. Reports indicate that it may serve as a specific receptor for some natural killer cell targets and a possible stimulatory role.

Description:
The CD4 antigen is highly expressed on human T helper cells and thymocytes, and at lower levels on monocytes and dendritic cells. This integral membrane glycoprotein of approximately 58 kDa contains four external domains (D1 to D4) that show homology to members of the immunoglobulin (Ig) superfamily. It is responsible for the recognition of the MHC class II antigen. The CD4 antibody recognizes most thymocytes and about 65% of peripheral blood T cells.

Description:
CAPD2 is a regulatory subunit of the condensin complex, a complex required for conversion of interphase chromatin into mitotic-like condensed chromosomes. The condensin complex probably introduces positive supercoils into relaxed DNA in the presence of type I topoisomerases and converts nicked DNA into positive knotted forms in the presence of type II topoisomerases. It may target the condensin complex to DNA via its C-terminal domain (referenced from Swissprot).

Description:
Thrombin is the final protease in the blood coagulation cascade and serves both pro- and anticoagulant functions through the cleavage of several targets. The ability of thrombin to specifically recognize a wide range of substrates derives from interactions which occur outside of the active site of thrombin. Thrombin possesses two anion binding exosites which mediate many of its interactions with cofactors and substrates, and although many structures of thrombin have been solved, few such interactions have been described in molecular detail. Glycosaminoglycan binding to exosite II of thrombin plays a major role in switching off the procoagulant functions of thrombin by mediating its irreversible inhibition by circulating serpins and by its binding to the endothelial cell surface receptor thrombomodulin.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is a type II membrane protein that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP sialic acid to galactose-containing substrates. The encoded protein, which is normally found in the Golgi apparatus but which can be proteolytically processed to a soluble form, is involved in the generation of the cell surface carbohydrate determinants and differentiation antigens HB6, CDw75, and CD76. This protein is a member of glycosyltransferase family 29. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene.

The NOK-1 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with human CD178, which is the CD95 or Fas ligand. CD178 is a TNF superfamily type II transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by activated T and NK cells and is involved in Fas-mediated apoptosis of lymphocytes. CD178 is also expressed by monocytes, neutrophils, granulocytes and the parenchymal cells of the retina and cornea. The NOK-1 antibody has been reported to bind to COOH-terminus of the Fas ligand in the region associated with Fas binding.
