Description:
The N-terminus of dynorphin, YGGFL, corresponds to Leu-enkephalin. So, dynorphin A (1-5) amide is filed as Leu-enkephalin amide (H-2745). For other opioid peptides see, the product families ‘Deltorphins and Dermorphins’, ‘Endorphins, MPF, Neoendorphins’, and ‘Opioid Peptides'.

Description:
Melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH), originally isolated from salmon pituitary glands, has also been found in the mammalian CNS. In lower vertebrates, salmon MCH alters pigmentation by inducing melanosome aggregation within melanocytes of teleost fish, whereas it causes melanosome dispersion in amphibians and reptiles. The biological role of MCH in higher vertebrates, however, is not yet fully understood, but it may function as a neuromodulator and hypophysiotropic agent in the secretion of α-MSH, ACTH, and GH.

Description:
Intramolecularly quenched fluorescent substrate containing the ortho-aminobenzoyl (Abz) / N-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)ethylenediamine (EDDnp) groups as the donor / acceptor pair. It corresponds to the Swedish-mutated (JMV2236) β-amyloid precursor protein (βAPP) sequence targeted by β-secretase BACE (β-site APP-cleaving activity). This FRET substrate is more selectively cleaved by BACE1 and BACE2 than by cathepsin D, a disintegrin and metalloprotease 10 (ADAM10), tumor necrosis α-converting enzyme (TACE), presenilin-1 (PS1), or presenilin-2 (PS2).

Bachem Americas
Description:
This fluorescent (FRET) peptide substrate contains the wild-type amyloid precursor protein (APP) β-secretase cleavage site. Mca-SEVKMDAEFRK(Dnp)RR- amide has been used for assaying β-secretase-like activity of thimet oligopeptidase (TOP, EC 3.4.24.15). The results suggested that TOP is a potential β-secretase candidate and is involved in the processing of APP in vivo. See also L-1905.

Description:
Screening analogs of the cyclic lactam melanocortin agonist MTII led to the identification of the agoutimimetic SHU9119. The cyclopeptide SHU9119 shares pharmacological properties with the agouti peptide in that it is a potent antagonist of the melanocortin-4 receptor and a less potent antagonist of the melanocortin-3 receptor.

Surfaces modified with RGDC were shown to be effective for osteoblast binding and proliferation. RGDC binds via its sulfhydryl moiety to gold particles and gold-coated implants increasing the biocompatibility of the latter. The surface of titanium implants has to be modified beforehand to allow covalent S binding.

Description:
Guanylin and uroguanylin are structurally related peptides which act on a transmembrane form of guanylate cyclase, termed GC-C. In mammals, they play pivotal roles in body fluid homeostasis. Less well defined additional members belonging to this family were identified in opposum and in eel.
