Description:   Mitochondrial ATP synthase catalyzes ATP synthesis, utilizing an electrochemical gradient of protons across the inner membrane during oxidative phosphorylation. It is composed of two linked multi-subunit complexes: the soluble catalytic core, F1, and the membrane-spanning component, Fo, which comprises the proton channel. The F1 complex consists of 5 different subunits (alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and epsilon) assembled in a ratio of 3 alpha, 3 beta, and a single representative of the other 3. The Fo seems to have nine subunits (a, b, c, d, e, f, g, F6 and 8). This gene encodes the F6 subunit of the Fo complex, required for F1 and Fo interactions. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene. A pseudogene exists on chromosome Yp11.

Supplier:  Prosci
Description:   IRF3 Antibody: Interferons (IFN)s are involved in a multitude of immune interactions during viral infections and play a major role in both the induction and regulation of innate and adaptive antiviral mechanisms. During infection, host-virus interactions signal downstream molecules such as transcription factors such as IFN regulatory factor-3 (IRF3) which can act to stimulate transcription of IFN-alpha/beta genes. IRF3 is present in an inactive form in the cytoplasm of most cells. Following viral infection, IRF3 can be activated by I kappa B kinase- epsilon and TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1), whereupon IRF3 translocates to the nucleus. IRF3 can also be activated by stimulation of toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) by dsRNA. IRF3 exists as at least two distinct isoforms.

Description:   GAD-65 and GAD-67, glutamate decarboxylases, function to catalyze the production of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid). In the central nervous system, GABA functions as the main inhibitory transmitter by increasing a Cl- (chloride) conductance that inhibits neuronal firing. GABA has been shown to activate both ionotropic (GABAA) and metabotropic (GABAB) receptors, as well as a third class of receptors called GABAC. The ?subunit of GABAA receptors are important for benzodiazepine binding and modulation of GABA-mediated Cl- current. GABAA R? is a 467 amino acid mulit-pass membrane protein localized to the postsynaptic cell membrane. Present as a pentamer with other GABAA receptor chains (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta and Epsilon), the GABAA ligand-gated Cl- channels selectively complex with D5DR to enable mutual inhibitory functional interactions between the two receptor systems. Defects in the gene encoding GABAA R Gamma 2 have been found to be the cause of childhood absence epilepsy type 2, familial febrile convulsions type 8, generalized epilepsy with febrile seizures plus type 3 and severe myoclonic epilepsy in infancy.
