Human Zinc Finger MYND Domain-Containing Protein 19 (ZMYND19) is a protein that contains 1 MYND-Type Zinc Finger. ZMYND19 can be expressed by the brain, testis, placenta, heart, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, and stomach. ZMYND19 interacts with GPR24/MCH-R1. It binds to the C terminus of Melanin-Concentrating Hormone Receptor-1 and the N Termini of alpha-Tubulin. ZMYND19 may be involved as a regulatory molecule in GPR24/MCH-R1 signaling.

Description:
Zinc finger proteins contain DNA-binding domains and have a wide variety of functions, most of which encompass some form of transcriptional activation or repression. The majority of zinc finger proteins contain a Krüppel-type DNA binding domain and a KRAB domain, which is thought to interact with KAP1, thereby recruiting histone modifying proteins. Zinc finger protein 750 is a 723 amino acid member of the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc finger protein family. Localized to the nucleus, ZNF750 contains one conserved C2H2 zinc finger domain and is expressed in the skin, lungs, prostate, placenta and thymus. ZNF750 is also expressed in primary human keratinocytes but not in fibroblasts. Mutations in the gene encoding ZNF750 cause Seborrhea-like dermatitis with psoriasiform, a condition characterized by a chronic and diffuse rash on the face and hyperkeratosis of skin over the elbows, soles, knees and palms.

Zinc finger and BTB domain-containing protein 48 (ZBTB48), also known as Kruppel-related zinc finger protein 3 or HKR3, is a 688 amino acid member of the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. Localized to the nucleus, ZBTB48 is expressed in the adrenal gland and neuroblastoma cell lines. ZBTB48 contains a BTB domain, also known as a POZ domain, which inhibits DNA binding and mediates homotypic and heterotypic dimerization. Characteristics of the BTB domain suggest that ZBTB48 functions as a transcription regulator.

ZNF217 (Zinc-finger protein 217) is a Kruppel-like zinc-finger protein which functions as a transcriptional repressor protein and forms a complex with a number of proteins including CoREST, BHC110/LSD1, HDAC2 and CtBP1. ZNF217 has been shown to repress E-cadherin promoter activity. ZNF217 is overexpressed in a number of cancers including breast and ovarian. ZNF217 and its associated proteins have been implicated in a novel pathway that is involved in cancer progression.

Description:
The RING-type zinc finger motif is present in a number of viral and eukaryotic proteins and is made of a conserved cysteine-rich domain that is able to bind two zinc atoms. Proteins that contain this conserved domain are generally involved in the ubiquitination pathway of protein degradation. RNF146 (RING finger protein 146), also known as Dactylidin, is a 359 amino acid protein that contains one RING-type zinc finger and one WWE domain. Via its RING-type zinc finger, RNF146 may play a role in transcriptional regulation and protein degradation events. Defects in the gene encoding RNF146 are associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and may lead to a higher risk of breast cancer. Two isoforms of RNF146 exist due to alternative splicing events.

ZNF426 (Zinc finger protein 426), also known as MGC2663, is a 554 amino acid protein that is thought to be involved in transcriptional regulation. Localized to the nucleus, ZNF426 contains one KRAB domain and 12 C2H2-type zinc fingers through which it may convey DNA, RNA and protein binding capabilities. Specifically, ZNF426 may interact with the viral protein KSHV ORF 50 and, through this interaction, may activate viral gene transcription.

SH3RF2 (SH3 domain containing ring finger 2), also known as RNF158, is a 729 amino acid protein with one RING-type zinc finger domain and three SH3 domains. Via its RING-type zinc finger domain, SH3RF2 binds an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme. This suggests that SH3RF2 functions as an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that accepts a ubiquitin residue from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme and immediately transfers that residue to a protein that is targeted for degradation. Due to alternative splicing events, SH3RF2 is expressed as two different isoforms.
