The NOK-1 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with human CD178, which is the CD95 or Fas ligand. CD178 is a TNF superfamily type II transmembrane glycoprotein expressed by activated T and NK cells and is involved in Fas-mediated apoptosis of lymphocytes. CD178 is also expressed by monocytes, neutrophils, granulocytes and the parenchymal cells of the retina and cornea. The NOK-1 antibody has been reported to bind to COOH-terminus of the Fas ligand in the region associated with Fas binding.

Description:
The A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) are a group of structurally diverse proteins, which have the common function of binding to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA) and confining the holoenzyme to discrete locations within the cell. AKAP1 is a member of the AKAP family. It binds to type I and type II regulatory subunits of PKA and anchors them to the mitochondrion. This protein is speculated to be involved in the cAMP-dependent signal transduction pathway and in directing RNA to a specific cellular compartment.

Description:
The assembly and stability of the RNA polymerase II transcription pre-initiation complex on a eukaryotic core promoter involve the effects of TFIIA on the interaction between TATA-binding protein (TBP) and DNA. This gene encodes a germ cell-specific counterpart of the large (alpha/beta) subunit of general transcription factor TFIIA that is able to stabilize the binding of TBP to DNA and may be uniquely important to testis biology.

Description:
Has a strict specificity for hydrolysis of asparaginyl bonds. Can also cleave aspartyl bonds slowly, especially under acidic conditions. Required for normal lysosomal protein degradation in renal proximal tubules. Required for normal degradation of internalized EGFR. Plays a role in the regulation of cell proliferation via its role in EGFR degradation (By similarity). May be involved in the processing of proteins for MHC class II antigen presentation in the lysosomal/endosomal system.

Description:
Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are members of a large family of zinc metalloenzymes responsible for catalyzing the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. CAs show extensive diversity in their distribution and subcellular localization. They are involved in a variety of biological processes, including calcification, bone resorption, respiration, acid-base balance and the formation of aqueous humor, saliva, gastric juice and cerebrospinal fluid. CA XI, also referred to as carbonic anhydrase-related protein 11 precursor (CA-RP XI) or carbonic anhydrase-related protein 2 (CA-RP II), is a member of the carbonic anhydrase family that lacks two of the three Zn-binding motifs essential for carbonic anhydrase activity. For this reason, CA XI does not exhibit catalytic activity. It is expressed primarily in brain but is also found in spinal cord and thyroid. CA XI may play a role in brain development.Tissue specificity:Expressed abundantly in the brain with moderate expression also present in spinal cord and thyroid.

Description:
Apurinic/apyrimidinic (AP) sites occur frequently in DNA molecules by spontaneous hydrolysis, by DNA damaging agents or by DNA glycosylases that remove specific abnormal bases. AP sites are pre-mutagenic lesions that can prevent normal DNA replication so the cell contains systems to identify and repair such sites. Class II AP endonucleases cleave the phosphodiester backbone 5' to the AP site. This gene encodes the major AP endonuclease in human cells.

Description:
Ectodysplasin A (EDA1) is a member of the TNF-related ligand family involved in the early epithelial-mesenchymal interaction that regulates ectodermal appendage formation. It is a trimeric type II membrane protein that co-localizes with cytoskeletal structures at the lateral and apical surfaces of cells and can be expressed as eight alternatively spliced isoforms in hair follicles and in the epidermis of adult skin. EDAs are required during development, and loss or mutation of EDA1 results in a group of developmental disorders identified as ectodermal dysplasia type 1.

Description:
Interferon gamma receptor 1(IFNGR1) encoded by the IFNGR1 gene, is a single-pass type 1 membrane protein which belongs to the type II cytokine receptor family. IFNGR1 is phosphorylated at Ser/Thr residues after translation. IFNGR1 is a receptor for interferon gamma, two receptors bind one interferon gama dimer. A genetic variation in IFNGR1 is associated with susceptibility to Helicobacter pylori infection. In addition, defects in IFNGR1 are a cause of mendelian susceptibility to mycobacterial disease, also known as familial disseminated atypical mycobacterial infection.
