PureCol® collagen is known as the standard of all collagens for purity (>99.9% collagen content), functionality, and the most native-like collagen available. PureCol® is isolated from bovine hides sourced from the only controlled, closed herd in the United States. PureCol® collagen is approximately 97% Type I with the remainder being comprised of Type III collagen. It is soluble atelo-collagen. It contains high monomer content as measured by gel permeation chromatography. This product is supplied as a lyophilized powder with 15 mg of bovine collagen. When reconstituted with 5 ml of sterile 0.01 N HCl, a concentration of approximately 3 mg/ml is achieved. PureCol® collagen is ideal for coating of surfaces and providing preparations of thin layers for culturing cells. PureCol®, lyophilized form is not recommended for the formation of a solid gel. This antibody recognizes a protein of 50-65 kDa, identified as CD16 (Workshop IV; Code N39 ) (also known low affinity Fc receptor III for IgG (FcRIII) or Leu 11). CD16 exists as a polypepetide-anchored from (FCRIIIA or CD16A) on human natural killer (NK) cells and monocytes/ macrophages and as a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored form (FcRIIIB or CD16B) on neutrophils. CD16B is polymorphic and the two alleles are termed NA1 and NA2.3 CD16 plays a role in signal transduction, NK cell activation and antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity. This MAb has been showed to inhibit the binding of immune complex to NK cells, inhibit cytotoxicity of NK cells, and induce calcium fluxes in NK cells and neutrophils.

Neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) is a neurotrophic factor and a member of the nerve growth factor (NGF) family of proteins that includes neuron growth factor (NGF), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and neurotrophin-4/5. NT-3 signals a number of trophic effects through its transducing receptor tyrosine kinase TrkC. NT-3 is known to promote survival, development, and differentiation of neurons, and modulates transmitter release at several types of synapses in the peripheral and central nervous systems (Chalazonitis 1996). NT-3 has been shown to have an important role in the overall development of enteric neurons, which are crucial for gut peristalsis (Chalazonitis 2004). Studies in rats have shown the potential of NT-3 in dorsal column axonal regeneration (Bradbury <i>et al.</i>). NT-3 was shown to protect neurons against amyloid-β toxicity (Lesne <i>et al.</i>). NT-3 has applications in neuronal differentiation protocols to generate β-tubulin III+ peripheral neurons from neural crest stem cells (Menendez <i>et al.</i>) and oligodendrocyte precursor cells from human embryonic stem (ES) and induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells (Douvaras <i>et al.</i>).

This antibody recognizes a cell surface glycoprotein of 95/115/135 kDa (depending upon the extent of glycosylation), identified as CD43 (Workshop III). 70-90% of T-cell lymphomas and from 22-37% of B-cell lymphomas express CD43. No reactivity has been observed with reactive B-cells. So a B-lineage population that co-expresses CD43 is highly likely to be a malignant lymphoma, especially a low-grade lymphoma, rather than a reactive B-cell population. When CD43 antibody is used in combination with anti-CD20, effective immunophenotyping of the lymphomas in formalin-fixed tissues can be obtained. Co-staining of a lymphoid infiltrate with anti-CD20 and anti-CD43 argues against a reactive process and favors a diagnosis of lymphoma.

Peripherin is a ~57 kDa intermediate filament subunit found initially in sensory neurons of the peripheral nervous systems, which gives the protein its name. Subsequently, peripherin was found in some sensory and other neurons of the central nervous system and also in PC12 cells. Peripherin is also expressed in certain neuroendocrine tumors and in the insulin producing cells of the pancreas. Peripherin belongs to the Class III family of intermediate filament subunits which also includes vimentin, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and desmin. In contrast to the neurofilaments, peripherin is strongly up-regulated after nerve injury. Antibodies to peripherin can be used in identifying, classifying, and studying neurons throughout the nervous system. Peripherin is also a good diagnostic marker for ballooned axons seen in Lou Gehrig's disease (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and some neuronally derived tumors. Autoantibodies to peripherin are frequently seen in the sera of patients with diabetes. Peripherin is not related to peripherin/RDS, a protein of the photoreceptor outer membrane mutations of which are causative of certain forms of slow retinal degeneration.
