Description:
This antibody reacts with a 55 kDa protein. Glucose is fundamental to the metabolism of mammalian cells. Several glucose transporter protein (Glut) isoforms have been identified and shown to function in response in insulin and IGF-1 induced signaling. GLUT-1 is detectable in many human tissues including those of the colon, lung, stomach, esophagus and breast. GLUT-1 immunoreactivity in some cancers, including trans-carcinoma of the urinary bladder, has been associated with aggressive behavior.

Product Introduction:Phenylmethanesulfonyl chloride is an aliphatic sulfonyl chloride. It reacts with triethylamine in methylene chloride or ether to yield trans-stilbene and cis diphenylethylene sulfone. Its reaction with 1,1-bis(diethylamino)ethane has been studied. Addition of phenylmethanesulfonyl chloride to 1,3-diphenyl-2-pyrrolidinopropene in the presence of water was studied.

Description:
This gene belongs to a group of vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) genes. The encoded protein is a component of a large multimeric complex, termed the retromer complex, involved in retrograde transport of proteins from endosomes to the trans-Golgi network. The close structural similarity between the yeast and human proteins that make up this complex suggests a similarity in function. Expression studies in yeast and mammalian cells indicate that this protein interacts directly with VPS35, which serves as the core of the retromer complex. [provided by RefSeq]

CD99 Antigen-Like Protein 2 (CD99L2) belongs to the CD99 family. CD99L2 is a single-pass type I membrane protein and expressed in many tissues, with low expression in thymus. CD99L2 plays a role in a late step of leukocyte extravasation helping cells to overcome the endothelial basement membrane. CD99L2 and CD99 are involved in trans-endothelial migration of neutrophils in vitro and in the recruitment of neutrophils into inflamed peritoneum. A similar protein in mouse functions as an adhesion molecule during leukocyte extravasation. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Description:
The ST6GAL1 gene encodes beta -Galactosamide alpha-2,6-Sialyltransferase 1. It is a type II membrane protein and is localized to the trans-Golgi network. It catalyzes 2,6-sialylation of Gal beta 1,4-GlcNAc structures on N-glycans. ST6GAL1 is highly expressed in the liver and other tissues. ST6GAL1 deficiency causes abnormalities in B-cell immunoreactivity. The expression and activity of ST6GAL1 are associated with tumor metastasis in breast and colon cancers. The majority of ST6GAL1 in the liver is cleaved and secreted into the serum and may be used as a biomarker for hepatitis diseases.

Dithioerythritol is an erythro isomer of 2,3-dihydroxy-1,4-dithiolbutane, and an isomer of 1,4-dithiothreitol which is a reagent for maintaining thiols in the reduced state; prevents oxidation of sulfhydryl-containing proteins during SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. It also quantitatively reduces disulfides.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is an enzyme that synthesizes the prenyl side-chain of coenzyme Q, or ubiquinone, one of the key elements in the respiratory chain. The gene product catalyzes the formation of all trans-polyprenyl pyrophosphates from isopentyl diphosphate in the assembly of polyisoprenoid side chains, the first step in coenzyme Q biosynthesis. Defects in this gene are a cause of coenzyme Q10 deficiency.

Promotes cell-cell contacts by forming homophilic or heterophilic trans-dimers. Heterophilic interactions have been detected between PVRL1/nectin-1 and PVRL3/nectin-3 and between PVRL1/nectin-1 and PVRL4/nectin-4. Functions as an entry receptor for herpes simplex virus and pseudorabies virus. Has some neurite outgrowth-promoting activity.

Description:
Acts as a tumor suppressor in many tumor types; induces growth arrest or apoptosis depending on the physiological circumstances and cell type. Involved in cell cycle regulation as a trans-activator that acts to negatively regulate cell division by controlling a set of genes required for this process. One of the activated genes is an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases. Apoptosis induction seems to be mediated either by stimulation of BAX and FAS antigen expression, or by repression of Bcl-2 expression. Implicated in Notch signaling cross-over.

Description:
The coatomer is a cytosolic protein complex that binds to dilysine motifs and reversibly associates with Golgi non-clathrin-coated vesicles, which further mediate biosynthetic protein transport from the ER, via the Golgi up to the trans Golgi network. Coatomer complex is required for budding from Golgi membranes, and is essential for the retrograde Golgi-to-ER transport of dilysine-tagged proteins. In mammals, the coatomer can only be recruited by membranes associated to ADP-ribosylation factors (ARFs), which are small GTP-binding proteins; the complex also influences the Golgi structural integrity, as well as the processing, activity, and endocytic recycling of LDL receptors.
