Description:
CTRP5 (C1qTNF-related protein 5; C1QTNF5) belongs to a highly conserved family of adiponectin paralogs. CTRP5 mediates activation of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) in muscle and liver cells, thereby regulating glucose and lipid metabolism. Serum levels of CTRP5 are significantly higher in obese/diabetic animal models compared to normal controls. Furthermore, CTRP5 may be a putative biomarker for mitochondrial dysfunction. Defects in C1QTNF5 are a cause of late-onset retinal degeneration (LORD).

Description:
PARP-3 is involved in the base excision repair (BER) pathway, by catalyzing the poly(ADP-ribosyl)ation of a limited number of acceptor proteins involved in chromatin architecture and in DNA metabolism. This modification follows DNA damages and appears as an obligatory step in a detection/signaling pathway leading to the reparation of DNA strand breaks. May link the DNA damage surveillance network to the mitotic fidelity checkpoint. Negatively influences the G1/S cell cycle progression without interfering with centrosome duplication. May be involved in the regulation of PRC2 and PRC3 complex-dependent gene silencing.

Description:
Angiopoietin-1 (Ang-1) and Angiopoietin-2 (Ang-2) are closely related secreted ligands which bind with similar affinity to Tie-2. Tie-2 and angiopoietins have been shown to play critical roles in embryogenic angiogenesis and in maintaining the integrity of the adult vasculature. Ang-1 activates Tie-2 signaling on endothelial cells to promote chemotaxis, cell survival, cell sprouting, vessel growth and stabilization. Ang-2 has been identified as a secreted protein ligand of Tie-2 and has alternatively been reported to be an antagonist for Ang-1 induced Tie-2 signaling as well as an agonist for Tie-2 signaling, depending on the cell context. anti-Angiopoietin-2 (human), mAb (rec.) (blocking) (Angy-1-4) is an antibody developed by antibody phage display technology using a human naive antibody gene library. These libraries consist of scFv (single chain fragment variable) composed of VH (variable domain of the human immunoglobulin heavy chain) and VL (variable domain of the human immunoglobulin light chain) connected by a polypeptide linker. The antibody fragments are displayed on the surface of filamentous bacteriophage (M13). This scFv was selected by affinity selection on antigen in a process termed panning. Multiple rounds of panning are performed to enrich for antigen-specific scFv-phage. Monoclonal antibodies are subsequently identified by screening after each round of selection. The selected monoclonal scFv is cloned into an appropriate vector containing a Fc portion of interest and then produced in mammalian cells to generate an IgG like scFv-Fc fusion protein.

Description:
Human CD154 (CD40 ligand) is a member of the TNF family and is expressed on the surface of activated T cells. Interaction of CD154 and CD40 is essential for isotype switching in B cells. Known genetic defects that alter this interaction lead to impaired immune system function. CD154 has been shown to be hyperexpressed by B and T cells in SLE patients. CD154 has been reported to be expressed on vascular endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells and macrophages indicating a possible role for the CD40-CD154 immunoregulatory signaling mechanism during inflammation and immunity in atherogenesis.

Human CD4 is a cell surface glycoprotein of 55kDa expressed on most thymocytes, on about two thirds of peripheral T cells and on some monocyte macrophage lineage cells. CD4 interacts with MHC Class II molecules in an accessory role during foreign antigen recognition by T cells. The extracellular portion of CD4 is an array of four Ig-like domains. The N-terminal region of CD4 is a receptor for the HIV-1 viral protein gp120.

Description:
Annexin V is an anticoagulant protein that acts as an indirect inhibitor of the thromboplastin-specific complex, which is involved in the blood coagulation cascade. Annexin V competes for phosphatidylserine binding sites (e.g. platelets) with prothrombin or coagulation factors and inhibis the activity of phospholipase A1. Antibodies directed against annexin V are found in patients with a disease called the antiphospholipid syndrome(APS), a thrombophilic disease associated with autoantibodies against phospholipid compounds. Annexin V is used as a probe in the "annexin V affinity assay" to detect cells that have expressed phosphatidylserine on the cell surface, a feature found in apoptosis and other forms of cell death.
