Description:
OCIAD1 was identified via immunoscreening of an ovarian carcinoma cDNA library from ovarian cancer patients and is expressed in multiple tissues including ovary, placenta, brain, testis, prostate, and mammary gland. Two isoforms of OCIAD1 are known to exist; the shorter isoform is restricted to the central nervous system. OCIAD1 is a transmembrane protein whose overexpression in HEY ovarian cancer cells increased lysophosphatidic acid- (LPA-)induced, but not basal level cell adhesion to extracellular matrix proteins collagen I and laminin10/11. This adhesion is not blocked by LY294002 and GF109203X, suggesting that OCIAD1 does not use protein kinase C and PI3 kinase signaling pathways to exert its effect on adhesion.

Description:
Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling cascades include MAPK or extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), MAPK kinase (MKK or MEK), and MAPK kinase kinase (MAPKKK or MEKK). MAPKK kinase/MEKK phosphorylates and activates its downstream protein kinase, MAPK kinase/MEK, which in turn activates MAPK. The kinases of these signaling cascades are highly conserved, and homologs exist in yeast, Drosophila, and mammalian cells. MAPKKK5 contains 1,374 amino acids with all 11 kinase subdomains. Northern blot analysis shows that MAPKKK5 transcript is abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. The MAPKKK5 protein phosphorylates and activates MKK4 (aliases SERK1, MAPKK4) in vitro, and activates c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK)/stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) during transient expression in COS and 293 cells; MAPKKK5 does not activate MAPK/ERK.

The Friend leukemia virus integration 1 (FLI1) protein is a transcription factor containing an ETS DNA-binding domain and is highly expressed in hematopoietic cell lineages and vascular endothelial cells. FLI1 plays important roles in megakaryocytic differentiation and vascular homeostasis. The FLI1 gene can undergo a t(11;22)(q24;q12) translocation with the Ewing sarcoma gene on chromosome 22, which results in a fusion gene that is present in the majority of Ewing sarcoma cases.. Abnormal expression of FLI1 can be used as an adverse prognostic indicator for acute myeloid leukemia.

Description:
Synaptotagmins are a large family of synaptic vesicle type III integral membrane proteins that function as regulators of both exocytosis and endocytosis and are involved in neurotransmitter secretion from small secretory vesicles. Synaptotagmin XI, also known as SYT11 (Synaptotagmin-11), is a 431 amino acid protein that localizes to the membrane and is expressed ubiquitously with highest expression in brain and lung. Like other Synaptotagmin proteins, Synaptotagmin XI is involved in the calcium-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles and is thought to act as a calcium sensor during vesicular trafficking. Synaptotagmin XI contains two C2 domains through which it can bind either three calcium ions or the zinc-finger protein Parkin (a juvenile Parkinson’s disease gene product), the latter of which causes the polyubiquitination and subsequent degradation of Synaptotagmin XI by the proteasome complex. Defects in the gene encoding Synaptotagmin XI are implicated in a number of neurological disorders, including schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease.

Description:
MALT1 was initially identified as a novel gene that was recurrently rearranged in t(11;18)(q21;q21) mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphomas along with the apoptosis inhibitor protein c-IAP2. MALT1, along with the proteins CARMA1 and Bcl10 form an NF-kappaB-activating complex, termed the CBM signalsome, that acts downstream of lymphocyte antigen receptors as well as many other non-lymphoid cell-surface receptors that play a role in multiple cellular functions. MALT1 has proteolytic activity, and this activity is critical for full NF-kappaB response in T cell activation.

Description:
F-box proteins are critical components of the SCF (Skp1-CUL-1-F-box protein) type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex and are involved in substrate recognition and protein recruitment. F-box proteins are members of a large family that regulate the cell cycle, immune response, signaling cascades and developmental programs by targeting proteins, such as cyclins, for degradation by the proteasome after ubiquitination. FBL11, also known as FBXL11 (F-box and leucine-rich repeat protein 11), CXXC8, KDM2A, JHDM1A (JmjC domain-containing histone demethylation protein 1A) or LILINA, is a 1,162 amino acid member of the F-box protein family that contains one F-box domain and localizes to the nucleus. Expressed ubiquitously with highest expression in testis, ovary and brain, FBL11 functions to demethylate the Lys-36 residue of histone H3, thereby modulating the histone code. Additionally, FBL11 is thought to promote the ubiquitination and subsequent degradation of various phosphorylated proteins. Three isoforms of FBL11 exist due to alternative splicing events.

The IL-1 family is comprised of 11 structurally related ligands, including the recently re-named IL-36RA (IL-1F5), IL-36α (IL-1F6), IL-36β (IL-1F8), and IL-36γ (IL-1F9). The interaction of IL-36 ligands with the IL-1Rrp2 receptor (IL-1R6) can induce various activities, including dendritic cell maturation and activation. IL-36RA can antagonize the NF-κB signaling induced by either IL-36α, β or γ by binding to the IL-1Rrp2 receptor in a manner that prevents the initiation of functional signaling. Recombinant Human IL-36RA is an
