Description:
CD62L, also known as L-selectin, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein with lectin-like and epidermal growth factor-like domains. It binds to sialylated oligosaccharide determinants on high endothelial venules (HEV) in peripheral lymph nodes. In the mouse, CD62L is expressed on most thymocytes and on peripheral leukocytes, including B and T lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, and eosinophils. This member of the selectin family of cell adhesion molecules appears to be required for lymphocyte homing to peripheral lymph nodes and for leukocyte extravasation at sites of inflammation. Expression of CD62L on lymphocytes and neutrophils is rapidly down-regulated upon cell activation and the level of CD62L expression, along with other markers, distinguishes naive T cells from effector/memory T cells. The monoclonal antibody MEL-14 blocks in vitro binding of lymphocytes to peripheral lymph node HEV and inhibits in vivo lymphocyte extravasation into peripheral lymph nodes and the late stages of leukocyte rolling.

Description:
CD71, a type II transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the cell surface as a homodimer, is the transferrin receptor. It is essential for the growth of normal and neoplastic cells. It is expressed at low levels on resting B and T lymphocytes but is upregulated during responses to antigens and mitogens presumably reflecting the iron dependence of proliferation. Its expression declines with maturation and differentiation. CD71 plays a critical role in cell proliferation by controlling the supply of iron which is essential for many metabolic pathways through the binding and endocytosis of transferrin, the major iron-carrying protein. It may also be involved in signal transduction via its association with the T cell receptor ζ chain. The monoclonal antibody RI7217 inhibits cell proliferation in vitro.

Description:
The monoclonal antibody 14-4-4S reacts with the I-Ek class II alloantigen on cells from mice of the H-2d, H-2p, and H-2r haplotypes. Cells from mice of the H-2b, H-2f, H-2q, and H-2s haplotypes do not express I-E antigen. The antibody has been reported to cross-react with the rat MHC class II alloantigen RT1D.

Description:
The αβ TCR is expressed on T lymphocytes of all mouse strains tested. The H57-597 monoclonal antibody does not react with γδ TCR-bearing cells. Plate-bound or soluble H57-597 activates αβ TCR-bearing T cells. In vitro and in vivo, H57-597 can induce immature thymocytes to undergo apoptosis. In vivo administration of H57-597 has been shown to deplete αβ TCR-bearing cells to near completion and prevent graft rejection.

Description:
ChT1, a member of the Ig superfamily with one V-like and one C2-like domain, is a T cell antigen that is expressed on the surface of embryonic thymocytes (day 10). In young chickens about 90% of the thymocytes as well as a subpopulation of peripheral lymphocytes, which represent recent thymic emigrants are ChT1 positive. Expression in the periphery declines with age and, in correlation with partial thymectomy, indicates that ChT1 can be used as an accurate marker for studying thymic function. The monoclonal antibody CT1 also recognizes the ChT1 antigen in quail cortical thymocytes.

Description:
CD16, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, is a 50-65 kDa glycoprotein found as both a transmembrane and GPI-linked form. The transmembrane form of CD16 is expressed on NK cells, granulocytes, macrophages, and mast cells but not on eosinophils. The GPI-anchored type of CD16 is found only on neutrophils. CD16 is involved in NK activation and signal transduction.

Description:
CD3, a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell surface receptors, is comprised of five invariable chains ranging from 16-28 kDa and is closely associated with the T cell antigen receptor (TCR). CD3 is expressed on 70-80% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes and on 10-20% of thymocytes. It plays a major role in signaling during antigen recognition, leading to T cell activation. The monoclonal antibody UCHT1 reacts with the 20 kDa ε chain of the CD3/TCR complex.

CD57 represents a 110 kDa oligosaccharide antigenic determinant present on a variety of polypeptides, lipids, and chondroitan sulfate proteoglycans. It is expressed on 7-35% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, including subsets of NK cells and CD8+ T lymphocytes. The carbohydrate is expressed on various cell adhesion molecules in the nervous system and is suggested to play a role in cell–cell and cell–substrate interactions.
