Description:
Cell permeable spin trap commonly used in free radical research for both in vivo and in vitro studies. It protects against oxidative damage caused by various inflammatory events, demonstrating neuroprotective, anti-anging, and antidiabetic effects. PBN has been shown to inhibit LPS-induced NF-kappaB DNA binding activity, inhibit COX-2 catalytic activity, inhibit lipid peroxidation in rat liver microsomes and prevent the induction of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). Shows anti-cancer activity in several experimental cancer models.

Description:
Human DR3 (TRAMP; LARD) was designated TNF receptor superfamily member 25. TL1A is a ligand which can induce apoptosis through a cytoplasmic death domain similar to the CD178-CD95 (FasL-Fas) interaction. Alternatively, engagement of DR3 on T cells can synergize with other activating signals to enhance IFNgamma production.

Description:
CD160 is a GPI-anchored lymphocyte surface receptor in which expression is mostly restricted to the highly cytotoxic CD56(dim) CD16(+) peripheral blood NK subset. CD160 is a receptor showing broad specificity for both classical and non-classical MHC class I molecules. CD160 acts as a co-activator receptor for CD3-induced proliferation of CD4+ CD160+ T cells isolated from inflammatory skin lesions. CD160-Fc fusion protein targets a novel costimulatory pathway and prolongs allograft survival.

Description:
Human CD2 is a T-lineage glycoprotein with roles in cell-cell adhesion and the transduction of activation signals. Multiple ligands for CD2 include CD58 (LFA-3), CD59, and CD48. CD2 may play a role in regulating T cell anergy.

Mouse CD275 (B7-H2) is a member of the growing B7 family of immune costimulatory proteins. CD275 has been identified as the ligand for ICOS, a member of the CD28 family of co-stimulatory receptors. Mouse CD275 is expressed on resting B cells and at low levels on monocytes. The CD275/ICOS interaction appears to play roles in T cell dependent B cell activation and Th differentiation.

Description:
CD273 (B7-DC; PD-L2) is a type I surface molecule with homology to CD80, CD86, CD274. It is expressed primarily by dendritic cells and provides a stimulatory signal to CD279 (PD-1; programmed death molecule) which has an important immunoregulatory role by downregulating the T cell response. CD273 binds to CD279 (PD-1) with a 2-6 fold higher affinity than CD274.

Description:
Potent and selective irreversible and cell permeable proteasome inhibitor. Inhibits the chymotrypsin-like, trypsin-like and caspase-like peptidase activity of the proteasome. The active metabolite of lactacystin with higher potency since it does not require hydrolysis in order to become cell permeable. Calpain and cathepsin inhibitor. Apoptosis inducer. Anticancer compound. Induces differentiation and inhibits cell cycle progression in several tumor cell lines. Induces neuritogenesis. Autophagy inducer.

Description:
Irisin is a recently described exercise-induced hormone secreted by skeletal muscle in mice and humans. Irisin activates beige fat cells (beige cells have a gene expression pattern distinct from either white or brown fat and are preferentially sensitive to the polypeptide hormone Irisin). Irisin is cleaved from the type I membrane protein FNDC5 and improves systemic metabolism by increasing energy expenditure.

Description:
Human CD37 is a member of the tetraspan family of cell surface molecules that apparantly are involved in signal transduction or transporter system complexes. CD37 is strongly expressed on B lymphocytes (sIg-positive) and weakly on T cells, neutrophils and monocytes. Expression of CD37 disappears during B cell development at the plasma cell stage.

Human CD155 (Polio Virus Receptor, PVR, Necl-5) is a 70kd type I Ig superfamily molecule. It is involved in formation of intracellular junctions between epithelial cells. Its ligands include CD226 (DNAM-1), and CD96 (TACTILE). CD155 expression by tumor has been shown to be upregulated by nitric oxide. A soluble version of CD155 has been shown to exist. High CD155 expression has recently been exploited to use engineered poliovirus to treat glioblastoma.

Description:
Naturallly occuring analog of resveratrol. Potent antioxidant and free-radical scavenger. Shown to have neuroprotective activity against cerebral ischemia and against traumatic injury. Apoptosis inhibitor in transient cerebral ischemia. Inhibits viral DNA replication and late viral protein synthesis of African Swine fever virus. Has depigmenting effects by effectively inhibiting tyrosinase activity, which catalyzes the rate-limiting step in synthesizing melanin pigments. Has anti-inflammatory properties based on inhibition of iNOS expression through down-regulation of NF-kB binding activity and significant inhibition of COX-2 activity. Antihyperlipidemic agent.

Description:
Interleukin-21 (IL-21) is a key factor in the transition between innate and adaptive immune responses secreted by activated T cells. The IL-21 receptor (IL-21R) is expressed in lymphoid tissue, in particular by NK, B, T and dendritic cells, macrophages and endothelial cells. Recent evidence suggests that IL-21 plays a supportive role in the proliferation of T and B cells and influences the cytolytic activity of natural killer cells. IL-21 has been shown to up-regulate genes associated with innate immunity and to inhibit the differentiation of naïve T helper cells. IL-21 specifically inhibits IFN-gamma production from developing TH1 cells and is preferentially expressed by TH2 cells. Furthermore IL-21 has been identified as a growth and survival factor for human myeloma cells. IL-21/IL-21R interactions have a unique role in sequentially activating both innate and adaptive immune responses against poorly immunogenic tumors, leading to tumor rejection that is perforin dependent but IFN-gamma independent.
